It could help others or support to help you if you posted the version and build of Moneydance you are running. see under HELP - ABOUT MONEYDANCE e.g. 2017.10(1706).
Also what is your computers operating system.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/467268052019-02-13T03:43:22Z2019-02-13T03:43:22ZMoneydance Locking-up

I am using Moneydance in the trial setting, almost every time i hit enter to log in a transaction, the whole program locks up. I have to Cntr/Alt/ Del, then task manager to close the program. Once i reopen it, the transaction has completed. Has a solution to this problem been figured out? I am using version 2019.1 on Windows 10

pkheyestag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/467268052019-02-13T09:23:40Z2019-02-13T09:23:40ZMoneydance Locking-up

I am not support staff, just a user.

Its possible that the program is not actually not locking up but a window is opening off screen.

Did you ever have a second screen connected to your computer? Or maybe Moneydance thinks you had.

When it appears to freeze try Alt + Spacebar + m then repeatedly press left arrow and move the mouse and see if you can move off screen window back on screen.

Hope this helps

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/467268052019-02-17T02:27:17Z2019-02-17T02:27:17ZMoneydance Locking-up

thanks Derek, I do have a second monitor connected to the computer but i have never seen a second window pop up.

I have discovered that if i leave a transaction without hitting the enter button, the program will open a box asking if i want to save the transaction. When i push the yes button, it saves it without locking up. It seems i need to have a "save" button somewhere to push rather than hitting the enter key. Should there be a "save" button on each transaction somewhere that didn't download on my computer?

pkheyestag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/467268052019-02-17T02:59:14Z2019-02-17T02:59:14ZMoneydance Locking-up

I'm a fellow user.

The operation of asking if you want to save is because you are trying to leave a transaction while it is in edit mode it is normal, that is expected bahaviour. It is expect that hitting the enter key will also take you out of edit mode.

I have not been able to reproduce your problem on Moneydance 2019.1 Build 1856 running on Windows 10. There is no save button, Moneydance automatically saves data.

On thing that is known to cause unusual problems is if there is something wrong with the config.dict file. This file is in the .moneydance folder. if you rename it Moneydance will start as if it is a new install, you can sill opening your data set and see if the problem is still present, if it is you can rename the file back to its original name, if the problem is resolved enter your license key, re-setup your preferences etc

If the problem is not resolved I would suggest positing your error log, It is called errlog.txt and it is in the .moneydance folder, it may give more insight.

dwg
