Just upgraded from Moneydance 14 to 17.1. I have always added transactions manually because our Irish bank didn't download to Moneydance (at least it didn't when I first bought years back and it has never occurred to me to recheck). I have been trying to add transactions to checking. It all goes well including the cash register sound but nothing saves. Can I no longer add manually? (so incompetent with technology).

Thanks for any help,

Manual transaction still work. Ensure the filter ALL is selected at the top of checking account register.

You can download transaction files from your bank to import into Moneydance. see http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/online-banking-and-bill-pay/manual-...

Hope this helps

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/467493912019-01-03T22:38:07Z2019-01-03T22:38:07Zmanually add transactions

Hello Jo,

In case the above comment doesn't address your issue, can you clarify a bit about what you mean when you say "nothing saves?" Do you mean the transaction appears in your register, but when you close and open the program it no longer appears to be there? Or that it doesn't appear at all? Or something else?

(Things got complicated for me trying to sort that problem out and I went to bed having somehow made my program on my new Mac and old Mac vanish. I
had already spent at least five hours during the day trying to figure it
out so called it a day) . Will try again today.

I HAD managed to download my file from moneydance onto new mac....matched
data on old Mac. When I added a new transaction, everything went in as it
should as normal, but after the ‘ka-ching’ the line wasn’t there. Nothing
of the new transaction stayed. I don’t know if it was because ‘ All’ had
not been selected.

Maybe that was problem. Otherwise there will be more emails from me later
to day.

Thanks

Jo Peterstag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/467493912019-01-04T15:36:21Z2019-01-04T15:36:21Zmanually add transactions

Ok, let us know if the 'All' filter doesn't solve this issue. If not, also try adding a new transaction to a different account, and see if that one appears. If it does, that would narrow down the issue to something with this one account, as opposed to the program as a whole.

For example, I want the system to automatically import transactions from my synced account, but if I write a check, I want to add it in manually (before it clears my bank) to make sure I have an accurate snapshot of my available $$. Thanks.

LABtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/467493912019-03-21T20:34:18Z2019-03-21T20:34:18Zmanually add transactions

Hi LAB,

1) does MD syn my accounts directly from my Chase bank accounts?

Yes, Moneydance uses direct-connect to connect to Chase's OFX server.

2) In those synced accounts, would I still be able to add transactions manually.

Yes, there are no restrictions placed on accounts that are set up for online banking.

It is my understanding that direct-connect is a free service from Chase for personal banking clients. For business accounts there may be a monthly fee.

If I may make a suggestion, download the free trial version of Moneydance to see if it suits your needs. You can d/l the trial version here:
