Just downloaded MD 2012 and hit create new file which obviously was the wrong thing to do. How to I get back to the beginning so I can add the 2012 update to my currently
operating MD? Also, I run MD on my thumb drive so it is more portable. My thumb drive is intact with the version I purchased last March. How do I download the new version to my thumb drive? I am pretty technologically challenged so need simple directions.

Thanks, Joelle

    Hi Joelle,
Sorry we did not get back to you sooner, we've had a busy past few days.
If you want to bring in your current version of Moneydance go to File-> Import and select your file from there.
Moneydance 2012 currently requires that you save your data file in a specific location, but future versions of the linux version will restore the function of being able to specify the location. Your data file lives in the following location: ~/.moneydance/Documents
From there you could still copy it to the thumb drive.
If you wanted to run it on a thumb drive we think it might work if set the HOME env variable in a launch script, but we haven't tested this.
You can get the current folder's full path from a script. Set it to /MoneydanceDataHome/
You can also probably do it by passing a parameter to the moneydance launcher. Something like -J-Duser.home= should work.

Frankly, you'd need to mess with things a bit, if you're up for it I'd be curious to hear how it works out.
Please let us know if you have any more questions.
    Sincerely,
    Jon Hoover, Moneydance Support
