Quicken Credit Card and Chase

After over 10 years as a Quicken user, I'm migrating to Moneydance. I've run into issues getting my Quicken credit card (provided through Chase) transactions to download into Moneydance. I see from searching this forum that this problem was reported last year: http://moneydance.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1214586522

What is the current status of this bug?

Does TD Banknorth credit card download work?

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately TD Banknorth credit card doesn't support direct OFX connections, which Moneydance (and other financial software) requires in order to talk directly to a bank.  The best way to get your transactions into Moneydance is to use a web browser to download from their web site.  You can download into QFX, OFX or OFC files (aka Quicken or MS Money files), any of which will import cleanly into Moneydance.

If your TD Banknorth credit card begins to support direct OFX connections in the future, we will be happy to work with them.

In regard to the issues you are having with the Quicken Chase credit card, could you please provide me with a detailed description of what happens when you try to download your Chase transactions? The link you provided was helpful, but a step-by-step description will help us to better determine the issue.

I go through the "Setup Online Banking" process for the credit card:

    1) I select the Financial Institution: Chase 2) I select my credit card account 3) I provide my login and password 4) I get a dialog that says: "Please choose the account that you wish to use:"

    The account list is empty.

I used this credit card in Quicken for many years.

    David,

I apologize for the extended delay in our reply to you. Are you still having difficulty with your connection? You have a Chase Credit Card that is enabled for Direct Connect and you are unable to establish a connection?

    Sincerely,

I am having the same problem, but with the amazon.com card, also serviced by chase. Below are the steps:
    - view amazon credit card account - Setup online banking - Select Chase as my financial institution - Select my amazon.com moneydance account - enter chase username/password (this appears to validate against chase, as if i enter an incorrect pswd, i'm presented a dialog box to that effect) - Here's the problem: the next dialog box asks me to choose the account i wish to use, and has two dimmed checkboxes with associated account dropdowns. The checkboxes are Online Banking and Bill Payment Enabled. I don't have a chase checking or savings, only a credit card. It seems like moneydance is trying to signup for online banking for a checking or savings account, rather than using a credit card.

Solved the problem -- it helps if the account type is credit card instead of bank.

Since i found the ms money migration guide after i had started importing accounts, i didn't precreate my accounts as the correct type. My credit card accounts were imported as bank accounts, hence the online confusion. I used the post about changing account types to correct my mistake and online services now work fine for my credit cards.

I checked and the account is a credit card type. I also tried creating a new credit card account as an experiment for the Quicken card.

When I go through the Online Payment setup, after I enter my login and password, I get a screen with "Online Banking" and "Bill Payment" prompts, but there are no accounts to pick.

    David,

I may have a solution, please refer to the attached image so you can see which screens I am referencing. On a slow or intermittent Internet connection the program authenticates with screen 3 but then while downloading the information for the dropdown in screen 4 it shows the user either screen 1 or 2. Basically I think it’s just a situation where if the connection is too slow it authenticates but then takes longer to return the results of the query for the Account dropdown box. In the meantime it shows either screen 1 or 2, so many people just click the “Next” button again because they don’t see screen 4. Then it quickly blips past screen 4 (when it finally had the data to show it). In the next release we will be adding a “Downloading Bank Information” message between screens 3 and 4 until MoneyDance can retrieve all the necessary information.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance.

Nope this is not my problem. Here are 4 screen captures showing what I see.

The account is of type credit card.

    Hi David,

I'm sorry for the delayed response.

Your account may not be enabled with Chase. Most financial institutions will require you to enable your accounts for application-based online banking. If you have your financial institution set up your account as if you were using Quicken 2008 for Windows then it should also work with Moneydance since they use the same protocol. This is sometimes necessary as many banks don't yet recognize Moneydance or know how to deal with it. Once the accounts are enabled for Direct Connect, they should appear in Moneydance.

Please let me know if this doesn't solve your connection problem.

With Chase, direct access service also costs $9.95/mo. Whether it is on, or not, shows in your profile info on their/your web site. You can request they turn it on, on off, via their web site "secure" email.
