I used the format like 12/11 for December 11. When I enter this in the search bar, the currency calculator takes over. I realize now I should use text for the months now. Is there a way to make it work? I tried putting it in quotes and that didn't work. I tried advanced search and was able to select the transactions I want to mass update but that function doesn't work in the Advance Search. Is there some way I can do this?

jdschimmertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/469628002019-02-15T06:42:30Z2019-02-16T13:23:58ZCan't search transaction for dates in the memo field

I have an additional question. I changed all the December transaction to have Dec11 in the memo field so I could move forward for now. It shows up as [Dec11] in the corresponding Visa account. The search doesn't see this value in brackets I guess. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

jdschimmertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/469628002019-02-15T09:02:00Z2019-02-16T13:23:58ZCan't search transaction for dates in the memo field

I'm a fellow user.

An entry in square brackets in a field means that there is no entry on this side of the transaction in that field so it is showing what is in the field on the other side of the transaction.

This occurs in those fields where Moneydance allows for different text on each side of a transaction.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/469628002019-02-15T16:53:13Z2019-02-16T13:23:58ZCan't search transaction for dates in the memo field

So I can’t search for it in brackets. I test using the tag field and it does the same thing. Looks like the only field that is duplicated in both accounts is the description field. Makes it tough to mass add a searchable bit of info on multiple records. Thanks for answering.

I just tried adding bracketed, parentheses, quotes, and 12/03 date format in the Description and Memo fields and I can find all using the register search. Yes the calculator does pop up searching for 12/03, but the transaction found is still filtered.
So it must be some difference with other platforms or builds.
Also have you tried the Find and Replace Extension. It seems to be able to find anything you enter in the free search field.

mhoggietag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/469628002019-02-15T20:29:01Z2019-02-16T13:23:57ZCan't search transaction for dates in the memo field

Thanks for responding. 12/03 does work in the search after all. Thanks

Can you try a transfer to another account transaction with 12/03 in the memo? The bring up the other account. 12/03 is in brackets here because it's from the other transaction and not really here I guess. So when you do a search in the transfer to account it doesn't find the transactions.

I will check out the find and replace Extension.

Thanks.... Jeff

jdschimmertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/469628002019-02-15T22:16:34Z2019-02-16T13:23:57ZCan't search transaction for dates in the memo field

just a user,

I did a test transfer from checking to savings with 11/03 in the description and 12/03 in the memo.

On the source account, checking, I could find the transactions with the date on description or memo. On the receiving account, savings, I could find the dates on the description, but not on the memo like you had indicated.

If I use advanced search and all accounts, I can find the dates in the description, and memo on checking, but can't find the dates on savings memo.

If I use the Find and Replace extension, I always find the transaction any way I search which would include the involved accounts. Find and Replace treats a transaction as one item that includes both accounts. It will always list the from account in the description and the to account in the category. You can then sort the finding by either column as needed

mhoggietag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/469628002019-02-15T22:48:00Z2019-02-16T13:23:57ZCan't search transaction for dates in the memo field

Thanks You have answered my questions and given me a good around.

jdschimmer
