Account Balances Report Broken in MD 2010
The Account Balances Report in MD 2010:
(1) No longer allows a date adjustment, and (2) Reports investments as shares rather than dollar amounts.
Thus it is no longer possible to export the day's new investment figures to determine asset allocation. This totally breaks the one major thing I do in MD. (And I paid 20 bucks for this?).
Please restore the old behavior. Or if you want to report shares in a report, fine--just do it in a new column, and give us the dollar amounts in one column. Don't mix shares and dollar amounts in one column; that doesn't make sense.

Hello,
We have rearranged the account balances and net worth reports a bit, and re-added some of the functionality that had been moved in the initial MD2010 release. Within the next 24 hours or so we will be releasing an update that provides improved behavior. However, for getting your balances/worth on a specific date you will need to use the Net Worth report. In the improved Net Worth report you can specify an effective date as well as choose whether or not you would like to show the security values in the report.
Thanks,
Sean

I just wanted to add my "amen" to the above problem. I have reverted to MD 2008 partly because of the loss of functionality to the "Account Balances" report...and the "Net Worth" report does not show my investments. IMHO 2010 (273) was released before it was ready for prime time.

imdean, If you go to the edit button on the net worth report there is a check box "include securities balances" just under the date. If you check this box, each individual security is listed on the report.

I referred to the "Account Balances Report" not the "Net Worth Report". But things
seem to be improving since I updated to the 732 Preview release. I have, in the
past with MD 2008, worked specifically with the Stable releases.

imdean, I, too, was unhappy about the loss of functionality of the "Account Balances Report" but have found that using the "net worth report" with the "include securities balances" box checked functions like the MD2008 Account Balances report. You can choose the date (build 730) on the net worth report as well as select any accounts you wish to view (all or any individual accounts) as well as the securities within each account.

In build 734, the Account Balance report shows dollar values all in same column and shares in separate "notes" column.

I believe that recent builds have resolved the above issue. If this is incorrect, please let me know so we can find the best solution.

Hello Angie Rauscher,
I agree. MD 2010 is now functional for me, at least, and I have begun using it as my default money manager. Thanks to all who contributed to the fixes.

I would like to see the flexibility of changing the date returned to the Account Balances Report. The Net Worth report does not show accounts with a zero balance. I provide my accountant with the Account Balances Report to show accounts and balances (including zero) on a given date and if I miss that date, month end, quarter end, I cannot provide that information.
Thank you,
Barbara
