Credit Card Accounts at Same Institution
I have 2 Chase Credit Cards. My log-in information at Chase is the same for both accounts. In other words, you log-in to Chase and it takes you to all of your accounts. Moneydance when downloading transactions for the second Chase account re-downloads all transactions from the first account. Moneydance is not differentiating between the accounts when it connects with Chase. Quicken handled this fine--I guess using the account numbers to differentiate and download into the correct account.

Sean, Please download our latest build (637) here: http://moneydance.com/preview/ Then disable and re-enable your accounts. This build has a bug fix that should resolve this issue.

Well, it worked the first time I did it. Hasn't worked since. Both credit cards downloading same transactions. Tried to reinstall preview release and disable/enable both accounts and not working. Any other suggestions?

Hi I have a similar problem.
The "Set Up Online Banking" does not work if the account is of the type "Credit Card".
If I set up my credit card account as a regular bank account I can use the "Download Transactions ..." If I set up as a credit card, when I'm doing the "Set Up Online Banking" the options for Online Banking" is faded out. Only the "Online Bill Payment" is available.
I'm using the new build(637). I'm in Mac OS X, and my bank is the National City.
Any suggestion? Thanks

It is odd your CC account has on-line banking greyed out. I have two cards. One is direct connect-able (Disover) and the other is not (a VISA). I am using OS X 10.4.11 and build 637.
I have multiple bank accounts at four different banks and, when I download transactions (direct connect or import file), all the accounts from a bank come together in a single file which MD separates by account number. It takes a guess as to the right account and I have to confirm. I put the last 4 digits of each account number in each MD account name so I can easily confirm, or correct, the match when MD guesses.
I did have one bank that used the same account number/name in the OFX file it would send so that MD would almost always get the guess wrong and that is why I started putting the 4 digit tag on the account name. About 6 months ago, that bank fixed their download after I bugged them for almost a year. Could be you are seeing something similar. Download an OFX file from your bank and open it in a text file to see if that is the case; the files are text and relatively easy to understand.

The issue that build 637 (should) resolve is that when someone has 2 or more accounts with the same institution, the set up process was inadvertently allowing people to hit "next" before the setup had properly identified the account being setup. So the same account (the first) was being set up again. The new version doesn't allow that mistake to happen. It is a fix unrelated to issues with file imports or downloads from multiple institutions.
Fernando, your issue is unrelated. Apparently, your bank's information from it's ofx server is establishing that it is a bank rather than a credit account. Moneydance "gray's out" when the account type set up in MD does not match the established type from the bank. If you want I can give you instructions in a private message so that you can run our "debugging extension". This will allow us to look at that file and determine what is occurring.
Sean, I'm not sure why it would work and then not work. Did you click the "reset sync" button from the "set up online banking" window? If your issue persists we can also send you instructions to run the debugging extension. Just send us a private message email.

I have no idea why but mine works fine again. It may have been something on the credit card's end.

Hi Brian,
I think you are right on the issue I'm facing. My bank allows to
download QIF files. So I downloaded a QIF from my CC and open it as a
text, it shows something like "type=Bank" I dont remember the syntax
exactly. So I did the following workaround.
I created an bank account on MD called "Connect CC" this account has
no transaction on it. Then I "Set Up Online Banking" on this account,
when I receive the account options I can see my CC account. I select
the CC account. When I ask for "Download Transactions", MD will ask
me to select the account (on MD) associated with that "banking
account" (which actually is a Credit and comes with my CC number). So
I select my "Credit Visa" wich is a Credit account on MD.
I'm happy if this for now. but it would be nice to see this working
"properly" on the next build. I agree that this is more the bank fault
than MD. However, MD should provide this flexibility, even if it is a
kind of Advanced option.
Thanks Fernando

Fernando, That is strange indeed. I'm impressed with your workaround. I will explore what we can do in a future build to address this, although it is definitely an issue coming from your bank's end.

If I click on "Set Up Online Banking", "New Connection", Next, and deliberately type an incorrect password, I get: Online Error The given customer ID or PIN is not valid. For more information, contact your financial institution. Additional information from the server: Signon (for example, user ID or password) invalid
If I type the correct password, I get: There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below. A communication or parsing error occurred. This could be the result of a network problem, a proxy error, or misconfigured server. Error Description: java.io.IOException: HTTP Error:500 Internal Server Error
I would appreciate any help. -- Scott

Scott, Direct Connect is not enabled by default with your financial institutions. It is necessary that you contact them and ask them to enable your account for Direct Connect "as if you were using Quicken 2008 for Windows". We suggest that people say this because Moneydance uses the same connection protocols as Quicken and most bank representatives are not familiar with Moneydance and do not realize it can be used to connect to their institution. Once your account has been specifically enabled for Direct Connect, you should have no trouble connecting. Please note however, that your login information for Direct Connect may or may not be the same as what you use to login on their website.
