Not sure if this helps, but it appears as though Quicken changed the export file format from QIF to QXF for 2019 version. It's possible that the change dates back to August, I'm not sure.. Do you have the ability to export a QIF file from your version of Quicken?

Regards,

It was kind of you to reply, and with more info/validation to boot. I figured as much, so I’m leaving Quicken after 19 years because of ongoing technical issues this year. I’ll take your advice and try to save my Quicken file as QXF in case that allows for syncing down the road. Thanks again. Nancy

QXF files can NOT be imported into Moneydance. Quicken has removed the ability to export QIF files in the latest version (which CAN be imported to Moneydance). Here is an excerpt from the article:

Quicken now seems to offer a QXF export format. It appears that this format is intended for moving data between different versions of Quicken. We've tried to access this file format, but have so far had little success. In short, this means there is no longer a way that users of Quicken 2019 can move their data to other programs like Moneydance.

That is why I had asked if you could export a QIF file, as I do not know which version of Quicken you have and I was trying to answer your original question.

I hope that this clears things up for you and good luck with your data migration.

TonyRItag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/473502292019-06-13T10:39:20Z2019-06-13T10:39:20ZTrying to sync Quicken data file with trial version of Moneydance

PS I had used Quicken for many years as well and decided to abandon it completely when I moved over to Moneydance 2015. I started out fresh with my accounts (which are not very complicated), never converted the old data. I never looked back and I couldn't be happier with the Moneydance Product. Quicken Licensing costs were becoming astronomical and their "sunset" model made me feel like I was being held hostage. Moneydance has a very generous licensing and upgrade policy, doesn't sunset, and certainly meets all of my financial needs.

Everyone's portfolio and records access needs are different. Starting out new isn't for everyone, but it worked for me.

Sorry for the long dissertation, but I wanted to provide as much information as possible for you to move forward.

Take care,

Tony :)

TonyRItag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/473502292019-06-13T11:01:20Z2019-06-13T11:30:59ZTrying to sync Quicken data file with trial version of Moneydance

I'm a fellow user.

QXF files must be considered as being proprietary to Quicken, just as their QDF files are, the possibility that other vendors will be able to use this format seems to be remote.

While far from perfect QIF files are the preferred option when migrating data. If you cannot get QIF files out of your version of Quicken I would at least I made sure I got CSV files, which are at the very least readable and leaves open the possibility, with some work, of at least getting some of the data into Moneydance.

I would be looking at your copy of Quicken to see what export options are available.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/473502292019-06-13T11:05:00Z2019-06-13T11:05:00ZTrying to sync Quicken data file with trial version of Moneydance

Thanks for the follow-up and good advice Des!

TonyRI
