I now have files on the summary page that end in 2018 and files that are complete and up-to-date. They are the same account. I don't know where I am and what to do with this.

I also had posted about trying to set up a budget and in the process I upgraded.

Not new, but my list of accounts show all when I have them checked to be hidden when zero balance. These are accounts that are no longer being used.

Right now I'm beginning to wish I had Quicken back again! HELP!!!!

sachsdmsrtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/473768572019-06-23T07:25:42Z2019-06-23T07:25:42ZDuplicate Accounts showing up after upgrade

I am not support staff, just a user.

I am having some difficulty following your issues, remember others can’t see what you are seeing to get an understanding of you issues, we only have your description. Can you explain further. For example, were you using Moneydance without issues and this has suddenly happened or are you a new user whose has just imported a QIF file from another program? What version and build of Moneydance are you running, e.g. 2019.3(1881). What’s your computer operating system? Are you syncing to other devices?

One of the issues is that although you have ticked “Hide on summary page (if balance is zero)” for a number of accounts under ACCOUNT – EDIT ACCOUNT these accounts still appear in the side bar. This is normal. They are hidden on the rest of the summary page but not the side bar. To hide an account on the side bar highlight it, then right click to select REMOVE FROM SIDE BAR. To add back hidden accounts in the side bar click the “+” at the bottom of the side bar.

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/473768572019-06-24T16:24:20Z2019-06-24T16:24:20ZDuplicate Accounts showing up after upgrade

Hi Derek,

I appreciate your help very much. We have a mac OS 10.14.5; Moneydance 2019.3 (1881) I do sync with my IPad.

I was trying to setup a budget from last year’s totals as I was going to divide those by 12 and enter them into the months of the year. In the process I was also upgrading as I figured that it would be better to have that done before I actually started. Somewhere the accounts seemed to duplicate, however I discovered that they only copied 2018? It took quite a while to figure it all out as I didn’t want to delete anything that might not be retrievable.

I did manage to get the budget set up, but it took a long time entering all of the amounts and there doesn’t seem to be a way to actually print a usable report as I used to be able to do with Quicken.

Thanks for the info on deleting the zeroed out accounts from the sidebar. I don’t like clutter.

Infinitekind has also responded, but I haven’t followed through with any of their answers as I thought you deserved an answer first. Again, thanks for your help.

Blessings,

I don't use budgets so can't help with them.

As support have stepped in I will step out.

Good Luck.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/473768572019-07-01T21:07:03Z2019-07-01T21:08:44ZDuplicate Accounts showing up after upgrade

I believe I can explain what happened to my files, but not why it happened. I was in the process of setting up a budget for 2019. I printed out a 2018 Income and Expense Report to get my starting figures to work with.

It seems that what happened is that 2018 duplicated in the files! It duplicate accounts and in my investments every entry for 2018 was duplicated!

I also updatred to the latest update after I had printed the 2018 I & E Report. I don't know if anyone else has experienced anything like this, but it was a lot of work trying to get it back to where it belonged.

sachsdmsrtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/473768572019-07-01T21:44:12Z2019-07-01T21:44:12ZDuplicate Accounts showing up after upgrade

I am not support staff, just a user.

Nothing like you describe has happened to me. I started with 2015, then 2017 now 2019.

A thought for the future.
Make sure Moneydance’s auto backup is setup under PREFERENCES – BACKUP, preferably to cloud storage in case your hard drive fails.
When you are about to do something new or major do an EXPORT – BACKUP in case something goes wrong.

Hope this helps

derekkent23
