Transactions don't Clear in the Register
I just began using MD 2010 as a trial. I cannot get any of my transactions to "clear" the register, like they do in Quicken, once they are downloaded from the bank and match transactions I entered. Is this a known problem? Is there a fix action for this issue?

either MD 2010 is not showing the downloaded transactions as being cleared or it is not downloading the transactions from the bank at all. has anybody seen this problem before.
every time i download my bank accounts it tells me there are zero new transactions even though i know there are new ones. what's the deal? is this why people continue to pay Quickens $129 discounted upgrade fee, because there is no other viable option?

MD 2010 does not show newly downloaded transactions as being cleared. You have to first accept them then mark them cleared. In both cases, you can select all of them at once and accept them (after you review them as much as you want), then mark them cleared.

To clarify:
After accepting the down loaded transactions, go to the "reconcile" screen (Top Menu "Edit"). The transactions which were downloaded should already be marked "cleared" (i.e. by default). If the balance is reconciled you just need to select "finished".
While this is a little different than Quicken, the procedure functions very similar to the "Auto Reconcile" feature within Quicken.

Angie,
I still don't see that I am actually downloading any new transactions from my bank. The reconcile function just seems to be manually clearing all the transactions that I have manually entered. How can I tell the diff between the downloaded transactions and the ones I have manually entered myself?

If you are using the latest build (735) of MD, the transactions "announce" themselves in 3 ways I can think of (I am assuming that you have set up the online portion of the program):
go to the register you want your transactions to go into, hit the command to download transactions (ctrl-d on windows, cmd-d on Mac). At the very bottom of the register there is a status line, which will show some motion during the download on the right side, and will tell you how many new transactions it downloaded when it completes.
Press the "unconfirmed" button at the top of the register. If you have any transactions showing, they are newly downloaded transactions. If the register is blank, you don't. You can then press the "all" button to see all of your transactions again.
Look for blue circles at the edge of the description field for each transaction. If you can't find any, you don't have any new transactions. If you find some and want to see them by themselves, do step #2 again.
There is really a lot more in 2010 than there ever was in 2008. A lot of people are having trouble getting used to it, and the lack of documentation of the changes has also been a big trouble spot. The people on this forum are your best resource right now, until the documentation can catch up.
