importing from Quicken Essentials (QEM).
HELP !!
I purchased Moneydance 2012 from the AppStore and imported my
Quicken Essentials File (QEM). Everything imported flawlessly
EXCEPT for my Checking Account, which now shows that I have several
thousand dollars more than I should have (don't I wish)!
Upon doing a partial transaction by transaction comparison, I found that several split transactions subtracted only the value of the first split from the account balance. Worse, If I try and edit the transaction I find that I cannot add a split to the previously recorded transaction either by using the pull-down category listing or by using the Command-L keyboard shortcut.
As an example, in my QEM file, when I record a $100.00 ATM transaction from an ATM other than my bank's machine I use two spits
- The first split transfers the $100 I received from the ATM machine to my "Cash" account
- The second split charges an ATM fee, say $2.00, to a "Finance Charges" category.
- As a result, my "Checking" account is debited by the total of $102.00
In Moneydance 2012, this transaction was just imported as a $100 transaction and the finance charge disappeared and my "Checking" account shows it is $2.00 to the richer.
This does not always happen, It seems to be limited to some of the older transactions - I have almost four years worth of data in this file.
I am using a 2011 iMac 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 with 16 GB RAM running 10.8.2

A further bit about this problem. The "Split" button that should appear at the top of the "Category Tags" column Drop-Down is missing on a large number of transaction entries. When this button is not present, the Command-L keyboard shortcut does not work either. The "Split" burton disappearing act seems to be random as it appears on some but not all transaction entries. The older the transaction is, the more often this aberrant behavior occurs.

Hi,
Sorry we let your message slip through the cracks. Is your problem still persisting? I have a few hunches about these problems but I am wondering if you could send in some screenshots of the issues you are having with splits? Being able to see the whole transaction setup may help us figure out what the cause might be.
Thanks.
Sincerely,
Jon Hoover, Moneydance Support
