To check the exchange rate for a currency, click – TOOLS – CURRENCIES highlight a currency and double click. A window will open showing the RATE used as the current rate and a list of dated exchange rates. The values may look to be the inverse of the values you would normally expect. This is the way they are stored in Moneydance. You can update the RATE manually and then click NEW to enter it in the dated table. If you click EDIT it takes you to a new window in which you can use a check box “Show on summary page”.
To update the exchange rates automatically install the Quotes and Exchange Rate Updater under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS and then run it from EXTENSIONS. Select “Currency Exchange Rates:” drop down as “European Central Bank” and click UPDATE NOW. You can also use Alpha Vantage as the source, this give you an exchange history filling in the dated values but it is very, very slow. Watch the messages just above the UPDATE NOW button. It provides a history for all the currencies listed under TOOLS – CURRENCIES not just the ones on the summary page. You must first follow the process of obtaining a free key from Alpha Vantage.
You can also set the updater to run automatically.

Correction to my last post, it does not look like Alpha Vantage provides a exchange rate history so just use European Central Bank
