syncing issues

I noticed my laptop did not sync with the primary computer the other day. when I got to the primary computer today I was going to unselect sync and delete the moneydance file on dropbox like suggested in the knowledge center. However, when I tried to select sync option in the menu it froze. This happened multiple times. The only thing that happens is it is highlighted as selected in the file menu and then everything freezes up. I can still use moneydance on the main computer but I can apparently no longer sync, or change the sync settings.

    When you say froze, do you mean the selections in the sync window are greyed out and can’t be changed, see screen shot. Screen shot is of a secondary computer that was set up for Dropbox Folder syncing.
    At any time did you Moneydance Restore from Backup a secondary computer backup. Or if using auto backup have you set the same location in Dropbox for both the primary and secondary computers? If the last to close was the secondary computer then as the backup uses the same name as the primary backup, the primary backup get overwritten.
    There is a way to convert a secondary data set into a primary data set. If you want to try it just post.

    No, I go to the file menu at the top and scroll down to the sync menu
    item and it is highlighted blue on my computer and then the whole
    program freezes with the dropdown menu still showing.?? When I go to the
    second computer and try to start the process and select dropbox connect
    it asks to authorize with dropbox and opens the internet browser and I
    authorize and copy the code and go back to moneydance and paste the code
    and it goes back to the original window saying not connected with a
    button to push for authorize with dropbox.?? My guess is somehow dropbox
    is messing this all up but I don't know how to fix it on dropbox end.

    As I can’t see what you are seeing I am not clear what’s happening.

    Also what version and build of Moneydance are you running on both your computers, e.g. 2019.4(1888)
    What are you computer operating systems?

    So I have uninstalled moneydance on both my laptop and desktop (both running linux mint). I reinstalled moneydance 2019 on both and did the same with my android phone. I still can not set up syncing with dropbox connection. I can now use dropbox folder but not dropbox connection. I even set up a new dropbox account and tested with that and the same thing keeps happening. I keep cycling through the dropbox authorization process but it doesn't go anywhere.
