    Hi Bill,

since about 3-4 Days i have Moneydance crashing on Windows as well as soon as i create a new posting and move to the category field (either through tabbing or clicking). I was about to create a new discussion for this since reinstalling did not solve it and on my Mac it is not happening. By any chance is it the same behaviour for you as well?

    Thanks & Regards,
    Sebastian

    Hi Bill.

I remember a memory size allocation problem on windows computers from some time back, worth a try.

    Navigate to C:\ Program Files \ Moneydance \ Moneydance.vmoptions
Open this file in a text edit.
Enter a # in front of the line -Xmx1024m
Remove the # in front of the line -Xmx2048m
Close the file and save the changes.
    Try opening Moneydance.

    Hope this helps

I have followed your instructions, but I do not have permissions to save
& so changes are not made. Any further suggestion ?

    Hi Bill.

OK, I don’t have the same save permission problem you have.

Assuming you are on windows 10 try this.
In the windows search box type “notepad”.
In the Best Match list right click on “Run as Administrator”
    Now edit and save.

    Hope this helps

Thanks again for your help. I have now successfully amended the file.
Unfortunately, Moneydance  still does not run.

I will await input from support.

    Bill

    Hi Bill.

    One last thought.
Is your computer 32bit or 64bit?

Support will want to know which version of windows you are running and what build of Moneydance 2019 you have installed, e.g. 2019.4(1888).

I would also suggest that if Moneydance is creating an error log (errlog.txt) which should be in the .moneydance folder underneath you home directory that you also include that.

My computer is 64 bit , I am running Windows 10 & I reinstalled the
    current version of Moneydance yesterday.

My version is shown as Moneydance 2019.3( 1880).

    Hi Bill.

Have posted a link for your thread to Sean the Moneydance developer in the hope he will take a look, no guarantees.

    Hi Bill,

Can you let me know if you're using the version of Moneydance from the Microsoft Windows Store, or the version downloaded directly from our web site at infinitekind.com?

    Thanks,
