Transactions missing from download from bank

I have noticed that some regular bi-weekly transactions are missing when I download from my checking account.

These are transactions that represent a transfer to another account.

I am working around this by scheduling a reminder transaction to apply every two weeks but I am wondering if there are logs or something I can look at to try and work out why these transactions are being skipped.

    Hi James,

We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.

Which version and build of Moneydance are you using?
To check, open Moneydance and select Help --> About Moneydance (or Moneydance --> About Moneydance on a Mac) where the version and build number will be displayed.

Can you let me know which operating system you're running on your computer/s?

When you download from the bank, do you use Direct Connect automatic downloads, or do you download files from the banks website? If you download from the banks site, which file format do you use?

Do you have syncing enabled, (via File --> Syncing), and do you share your data file with another computer or a mobile device?

    Thank you

Hello - thanks for the reply.

    (1) I am using what I think is the latest MoneyDance - 2019.3 (1880).
    (2) Windows 10
    (3) I download my transactions outside of money dance using the QFX Quicken Format offered by my bank. I see the transactions i question in the QFX file.
    (4) I am sharing transactions with another computer, using a shared file on a dropbox account - but I see this on the original computer even before any transactions are shared.

    Some other perhaps useful points:

This is happening with some but not all standing transactions. For example one pay check going into the account is effected, but another is not. Some regular payments are effected, but others are not.

Is there a client side log I can look at that will show me the processing of the transactions?

Probably a question support will ask is, is your data set on your hard drive or have you moved it to Dropbox?
If you are sharing your data set between two computers did you follow this process https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/syncing-and-sharing-data/sync...

And what syncing method did you select?

The problem is happening on the PC i download the transactions on. I am
confused as to how syncing has an impact. I see the problem in the PC i
downloaded the transactions on. Most transactions are loaded fine. Just a
    few are missing.

Is there a log file i can look at?

If your data set is not on your hard drive when missing transactions\corruption of data set can happen. Moneydance is continuously reading and writing to the data set so it needs to be on the hard drive.
If syncing to another computer is not set up using Moneydances internal syncing engine then you can also loss transactions or corrupt your data set.

    Hence the questions.

Moneydance has an error file errlog.txt at C:\Users\user name\.moneydance\
It may be helpful to post this log.

    Hope this help

Thanks for your comments Derek. Thanks for pointing me at the log file.
There is nothing that seems to indicate one these transactions were skipped.

The data set is on the hard drive. I'm sorry if I am not explaining that
clearly. I am downloading it on my PC, it is being read immediately by
money dance, and then some of the transactions are not appearing. The
missing transactions are all recurring transactions such as pay deposits
and transfers but that may be a coincidence. Other recurring transactions
    appear fine.

I am using the dropbox folder option to sync.

If the syncing is unstable then I will stop using it.

However, I am unsure how only some transactions are impacted by this issue.

Thank for the clarification on how you are syncing data between computers, syncing method Dropbox Folder using Moneydances internal syncing engine.
I have been using that method since the introduction of 2017 between two windows computers and an Android phone and found it reliable.
A small number of users have had issue which were fixed by resetting syncing.

In any event I hope SUPPORT STEP IN to help with you issue.

    Hi James,

I can see you’ve received some input from one of our knowledgeable Moneydance customers, who's help is always very much appreciated.

We would recommend you reset your connection. This will involve disabling the current sync settings, deleting all trace of the sync from Dropbox, then setting up again from scratch.

Before doing this, you should take a manual backup of each data file you use. To do this, open the file and choose File --> Export Backup.
This will create a .moneydancearchive file that we can use to restore your data if there are any problems.

I have provided the steps below:

    1. First disable Dropbox syncing in Moneydance via File --> Syncing. Change the sync method to "Don't Sync".
Then close Moneydance and make sure the program is fully closed.

    2. Using a web browser navigate to the Dropbox website, and log in.
Delete the entire .moneydancesync folder in your Dropbox folder.

    3. Then re-open Moneydance and navigate to File --> Syncing.
Choose a sync method (you must select a Dropbox syncing method to sync with the mobile app).

    4. If you are syncing with the Moneydance mobile app - Sign out of Dropbox syncing on your mobile device and reconnect.
If you have any un-synced transactions on your mobile devices then this process will delete any transactions not stored in the main data set. You'll want to manually enter any transactions like this before following the steps.

    5. If you are syncing with another computer, select File --> New, from the main program, or select "Create a new account set" from the Welcome window.
Finally, select a sync method, choose your file, and enter the encryption password.

Please let us know if the problem continues after following these steps, and we will troubleshoot further
