Transaction report - wrong totals with splits

Using MD2010 (723) and MD2010 (728): The Transaction Report is counting split transactions twice - once for the overall transaction, and once again for each of the splits inside. This occurs for the overall total at the bottom of the report, and also for any subtotals you turn on.

Unlike these posts from April, I am not using tags:
Apr 23, 2009 "transaction report, incorrect subtotal for splits"

Apr 23, 2009 "Wrong subtotals in transaction report with tag filter and split transactions"

The categories don't matter either. Same or different categories for the sub-transactions, the total is still wrong.

You can duplicate this in a brand new file:

  1. Create new file, standard account set.
  2. Open Checking.
  3. New Transaction. Split, any categories, any amounts, and save it.
  4. Reports, Transaction Reports. Default is for Checking.

In MD2010 I see the total as double the correct value. If I turn on any subtotal, I see the wrong value in the subtotal too.

In MD2080r4 (640) the report does not include a Total, but if I turn on any subtotal, the subtotal is correct.

Can anyone please confirm this? I'm still seeing the problem in build 734. I will open a trac bug for it, but first I would like to be sure it isn't just me.

This is still broken at 2010r2 (735).

I also found ticket 2347 for this exact problem:
defect: Transaction Report Total not correct 713 linux

But that ticket was Closed, marked as Fixed, with this comment:
"Please upgrade to the latest build from
713 is very old and had lots of problems."

I registered with Trac and tried to open a new bug report but got this:

    Error: Forbidden
TICKET_CREATE privileges are required to perform this operation
