Problems Importing bank transactions

I am just starting with the MD trial to see how I like it. I have my accounts setup and I am starting to try it out. My bank does not support online connections, but I can download transactions in OFX or QIF format. I first tried the OFX format and noticed that my balance was wrong. I checked line by line and discovered that multiple lines did not import. I opened the file in Numbers and saw them in the file. I deleted the import lines and tried again using the QIF format. It worked better, there was only one line that did not get imported. I was importing basically a month's worth of transactions. Is this a known bug? I am using version 2010 build 723.

thanks.

I had this problem and have found if I use quicken ofx from the choice I get at the bank it works fine. I'm in the UK by the way.

Thanks for the reply. I have also had problems with the ofx import. It appears there is a bug that has not worked its way to the top yet.

    Hi mjmcneal,

We've recently put out a new release of MD2010 based on build 735. Would you be willing to upgrade and let me know if you continue to have problems importing OFX files?

I imported my first OFX file after the install of 2010r2 735 and it initially imported ok and looked fine. The line items looked correct and the balance was correct. I imported approximately 10 line items. Once I started modifying descriptions/categories it dropped one of the two deposits line items I imported. When I saw what it was doing I closed without saving and then reproduced it. Any thoughts?

    Hi Mike,

I'm not entirely sure what might be going on. I'll talk to Sean (our lead developer) and see if he has any ideas. I'll sorry for the inconvenience. Hopefully I'll have more information for you soon.

    Hi Mike,

Are you sure the transactions are being dropped, or are they being merged with other transactions? You can check this by selecting an unconfirmed transaction and looking at the bottom bar next to the Accept button. It should say "Merge xxxx," which would indicate that it's possible to be merged.

I believe they were dropped because the total balance was altered.

I am using 2010r2 build 735 since it was first suggested by your support personnel. I was still experiencing issues, the latest round was a disappearing transaction while confirming ones just imported.

    Hi Mike,

Sean is in the process of making a number of improvements to the transaction matching system in Moneydance. As part of that ongoing effort, we just released another update (build 738). Would you be willing install that update and see if you still experience the same matching problems?
