Can't delete reminders; reminders do not register as instructed

Hi

(When I try to search for this problem regardless how I enter the search statement the search engine opens the basic instructions for Reminders plus two other hits, neither of which have anything to do with the problem.)

I've had problems with Reminders since I installed Moneydance.

Often a transaction recorded as a Reminder does not register if it is set as Auto-commit. Sometimes it won't register at all, even when I try to enter it manually in the Reminders module. Some Auto-commit transactions always register without fail. Others are hit or miss, while still others never register from the Reminder module and must be entered directly into the Register as a New Transaction.

Also, I have accidentally entered a transaction twice into Reminders. Opening the Reminder and clicking 'Delete Reminder' does nothing. Highlighting it from the list at top right delete both occurrences.

    Hi,

    We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.

    Which version and build of Moneydance are you using?
    To check, open Moneydance and select Help --> About Moneydance (or Moneydance --> About Moneydance on a Mac) where the version and build number will be displayed.

    Are you editing a General Reminder or a Transaction Remind?

    You can edit a General Reminder by double-clicking on the name of the reminder in the list on the right, as outlined in this article.

    When creating a Transaction Reminder selecting “Auto-Commit” will enter the transaction in the appropriate account register a set number of days before the transaction is scheduled.

    If the Auto-Commit box is not checked when you create your Transaction Reminder, the transaction will not be applied to your register until/unless you manually apply the reminder, as outlined here

    Finally, to delete a reminder, highlight the reminder from the list on the right of the calendar. Then click the - (minus) sign at the bottom right of the page, or the 'Delete Reminder' button.

    The version is 2019 3 1880

    They're Transactions.

    When I click 'Record Next Occurrence' The Reminder turns from black to
    gray but it is not recorded into my register. If I click the grayed
    Reminder the "Next Occurence" date is the following month.

    Please don't simply repeat information I can see on the help page.

    I have followed those instructions accurately.

    Please ask a supervisor to help me if you don't know why Moneydance is
    failing to respond correctly to commands.

    Please note: generally, when you edit the transaction that was created when you click record-next-occurrence, that particular transaction will be disconnected from the reminder.

    Also, would you be able to send us a copy of your Moneydance error logs, the logs should include information on what might be causing the issue.

    They are saved on your computer as an errlog.txt file. You need to navigate to: Local Disk(C:)->Users->Your Name->.moneydance
    The .moneydance folder includes:

    • your archive forlder
    • your documents
    • fmodules
    • python
    • safe
    • tmp
    • confg.dict (including your settings)
    • custom_theme.properties
    • errlog
    • key

    Finally, you can copy them into your next reply.

    See attached jpg. There is no errlog under .moneydance

    If you will look at the jpg you will see that the .moneydance folder is
    open. I've been using pc's since 1978. Kindly refrain from treating me
    like I'm an idiot and pay attention.

    I've uninstalled Moneydance, downloaded a fresh copy, reinstalled,and
    restored the data from backup. Reminders can be deleted now. I deleted
    them all and created new ones from the register. All of the first
    re-created transactions popped up on the starting date as per normal
    function. I assume the rest is functioning as it should.

    Thanks for your help. You might consider asking the client about their
    experience before assuming they know less than nothing. It's very
    frustrating to have to baby your CSR along until they understand they
    can communicate with you as a literate adult.
