I downloaded the new version (2010) to replace the version I was using. I have been using the new version - assuming it had my registration from the previous version. Tonight when it stopped accepting entries (100 trial version limit) I looked up my email with the code that I have used in prior versions and copied and pasted it in the registration window. It tells me I have entered an "Incorrect license key" - HELP I have been using Money Dance since April 2008 and need this program working.

Yep - it is a case of Bait & Switch. I too fell victim to the upgrade invite not realizing that I would have to pay for another license. I wouldn't mind paying the upgrade fee of $19.99 but the new version sucks big time and I want the old one back. No responses to email or a private thread on the subject. I was forced to pay the money to keep using the software. I'll be switching to a new Home Finance package in the New Year. MoneyDance used to be great - it just plain worked - no frills, just did it's job. A few months ago I noticed that the SPLIT function was not appearing when it should. Now it's much worse. Some accounts don't show up in the left hand navigation screen, the menus are hidden somewhere - it is a very sad and sorry mess.

    Hi John

Moneydance 2010 is only available as a free upgrade to users who bought MD2008 after March 28th 2008. I checked in our database and see that you bought a Key for Md2007 on Feb 20th 2008. Since this is so close to the cut off date i am inclined to make an exception in this case. I have privately emailed you a new key that you can use to register Md2010.

nspope, We recognize that there is a problem with the automatic updater extension not informing users who do not have a key that will register MD2010 that it is not a free upgrade. we are working to resolve this issue. This is not an intentional bate a switch it is a huge mistake on or part to not write a new version of the updater extension when we released MD2010. You have enjoyed free upgrades of Moneydance for more than 5 years. I cannot think of any other software company that provides such a long period of free upgrades. I am sorry that the problem with the updater extension affected you and that a member of the support staff was not able to respond in a more timely manner. If you would like a refund on the upgrade key you purchased. Let me know I i will authorize one immediately. You can download Md2008 from this link:

Many of the problems that were present in the initial relase of MD2010 have now been fixed. The latest build can be downloaded from here:

I am a big fan of Moneydance. I have been using it for sometime. I don't have any issues paying for an upgrade lic. However, I don't want to pay for one until the majority of the bugs have been worked out. Since this is a beta and seems to be very buggy, I would think that anyone would have at least a 6 month window for transactions. Not limited to 100.

P.S. At least on a Mac, I didn't copy the app to the application directory. My old copy is still installed and running correctly. I was able to test the new app, but the reconcile feature is very buggy. I will wait till this app is out of beta before testing again.

My beta version is now running on my MAC. The online download is still buggy. If you try to select a different account it locks up the program. I just "Accept" as shown and go back and change the entry afterword. That is the only issue I have encountered so far.

Are you looking for where to type in your key? If so, go to Help > Register Moneydance and you should be able to insert it there.

Doris- If you are looking for the web address to download the older version of Moneydance (ie, not Moneydance 2010), please let me know which version you were last using (Moneydance 2007, 2008, etc) and I will post the appropriate link.

For posters who were dissatisfied with earlier builds of Moneydance 2010- If you are not using the most recent version (2010r2 build 741), please update to that version. You can download the update here. This update has resolved a few key issues our users have been experiencing. I am using this build for my personal finances and am much happier with it than I was with the earlier builds.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance.
