Moneydance will not open, says bad padding or coding error?

When I try to open Moneydance I get the following error:
An unexpected error occurred java.io.IO Exception: ajavax.cryoto. Bad Padding Exception: Given final block not properly padded. Such issues can arise if bad key is used during decryption.

How do I get Moneydance back up and working?

Dwight

    Hi Dwight,

This shouldn't be able to happen unless there's been some change to a part of the data file outside of Moneydance's control. Can you let me know if you store your Moneydance file on a shared folder such as iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc? Is there any more information given along with the error message you provided?

    Thanks,
    Sean

    Sean,
I do not store Moneydance on anything except my personal computer and I backup my data to an external hard drive. How do I get it working again?
    Thanks, Dwight

    Hi Dwight,

Would you be open to join me in a screen sharing session so that we can get this resolved quickly? You would need to be present at your computer and have full control over the connection. We will be able to see your screen while we talk through what is happening and how to solve it.

If that would be ok, please let us know what dates/times work best for you as well as your time zone. If you could also let us know if you use a mac or windows, that would be helpful in setting up the connection.

    Thanks,
    Sean

    Hi Dwight,

Unfortunately I can't do 10am your time tomorrow. I might be able to do sometime around 1 or 2pm though. Can you let me know if that works? Also can you let me know if you're using a mac or PC/windows?

    Thanks,
    Sean
