My hard disk was reformatted, and I lost all of my several years of Moneydance data. Is there any way to a) recover the data, or b) reinstall the app.

    Hi Andy,

Unless you have a backup from another drive/cloud/usb device, etc.,, you wouldn't be able to recover Moneydance data from a reformatted hard drive as formatting a disk erases all data.

You can, however, most certainly reinstall the app.

If you had Moneydance 2019 you can download it here:

    https://infinitekind.com/download-moneydance-personal-finance-software

Previous versions of Moneydance can be downloaded here:

    https://infinitekind.com/previous-versions-of-moneydance

You can retrieve you license number by entering the email that you used to originally purchase your software here (Provided you purchased directly from Infinite Kind):

    https://infinitekind.com/purchase

You can also check if you are eligible for a free, or discounted update on that same page.

    Good Luck,

If you were making any kind of backup of your data and can't get the program to open those files, please let us know the full file name you are trying to open, and we can offer suggestions. Moneydance doesn't send your data anywhere off your computer unless you set up those systems yourself, so if you weren't making backups, I sadly agree with the above post that your data is gone for good.
