You can see an account named "Imported Bank Account" in he list when you are doing things like importing a QIF file, in that case it is usually given as the default, the QIF file may not include an Account Name flag in the data.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/480545032020-01-31T21:40:36Z2020-01-31T21:40:37ZImported Bank account

Hi dwg,

Many thanks for your help, but i haven’t imported any files as l input everything manually,

If there are no transactions in the account you can safely delete it, if there are they may give some clues.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/480545032020-02-01T16:13:20Z2020-02-01T16:13:20ZImported Bank account

In addition to dwg's above suggestion, if you could clarify the exact version of Moneydance you are using, that would be helpful. Go to Help -> Console Window from the menu bar, and look at the first line of the output.

this is the second time it has happened to me ie the bogus bank account all the transactions seem quite varied and exact copies of what are in the accounts, l deleted them all and deleted the bogus account it did say when l was deleting some files that there could be problems etc but the other accounts all seemed fine, would appreciate your help.

Many thanks,

I think we need to see the error log to determine if Moneydance is reporting anything that may point to an issue.

If you're using Mac OS, it should be located at one of these locations within your Home folder:

~/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt

or:

~/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt

If you have any trouble finding your Home Library folder you can open Finder and hold down the option key while selecting the Go menu and the Library folder option should occur or you can open Finder and select Go -> Go to Folder and copy and paste in the following:

~/Library

This should pull up your local Library folder.

If you're using Windows, it should be located under your login directory at:

C:\Users(yourusername).moneydance\errlog.txt

or

C:\Documents and Settings(yourusername).moneydance\errlog.txt

Depending on your version of Windows

If you're using Linux it should be located in your home folder at:
~/.moneydance/errlog.txt

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/480545032020-02-03T07:35:25Z2020-02-03T07:35:28ZImported Bank account

Hi Ethan,

As requested the log, l can see it shows lots of errors, best of luck,
