After changing the date setting, try quitting Moneydance and restarting it. Some of the preferences need a full restart to take effect throughout the program.

If that doesn't help, can you please clarify the exact version of Moneydance and operating system you are using?

Thanks! That worked great.

One other quick question. For 30 years I’ve been using another bit of software (called Money Manager), but they don’t support Mac or IOS, so I’m looking to move to a programme like Moneydance. It looks good - but how do I learn how to import all the data? Can you point me in the direction of a good article on that?

Thanks again

I'm glad to hear the date issue is sorted out.

I'm not familiar with Money Manager. If the program can export all of the data in one QIF file, you may be able to import it by following the instructions we have for moving from Quicken. We have a detailed explanation of that at: https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/importing-data-from-other-pro...

It seems this program is very US-centric. I’m finding it hard to find UK banks on your system, and my connection to American Express didn’t work to download my data from them.

Is this something you are looking to change?

Thanks

Patrick

Patrick Popetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/480929292020-02-16T20:08:30Z2020-02-16T20:08:30ZDate format

I'm a fellow user.

The Bank list is US centric because the Direct Connect protocol is generally only supported by US banks. There is really no other open protocol available for downloading of Bank transactions. In all other respects Moneydance is country agnostic.

Moneydance does support importing of transactions files using the commonly used financial data formats and in some cases CSV files can also be imported.

There is a long term plan of implementing a system that automates the download and importing of transaction files from a Bank's Internet Banking website but that is only in the early phases.

Moneydance does not support using aggregators that capture transaction data as these require you to give them your Banking username/password combination and is seen to be a security risk.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/480929292020-02-16T20:30:46Z2020-02-16T20:30:46ZDate format

To add a bit more: we're happy to work with any bank that offers direct connect, but dwg is correct that it's pretty much only US banks that support that service. Those at multinational banks usually can't connect to their accounts unless they are based at a US branch.

In this situation, the best way to get your transactions into Moneydance is to use a web browser to download them from your bank's web site. You can download into QFX, OFX, OFC, or QIF files (sometimes referred to as Quicken or MS Money files), any of which will import cleanly into Moneydance.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

Last question today, promise … is there any way on the iPhone app to make expenses (or payments) show with a negative sign (or brackets) as opposed to just a colour difference? I’m really colour blind and find it very hard to distinguish between red & black!

Thanks for all your help - I’m warming to Moneydance, and am particularly impressed by the speed of your customer service.

Cheers
