I'm not entirely sure I understand what you are describing. It sounds like you have expenses in a category that is not budgeted, and it's not appearing in your budget report. But when you check the option to include categories not included in the budget, those transactions are then included. That seems to be what one would expect that option to do. Maybe I'm not understanding, Could you try to clarify, maybe with some screenshots if that's helpful?

I don't want to share the actual data so instead I have mocked up the screenshots in excel with the real numbers:

SC4 - Is the budget report that I am trying to use. The option to include categories not defined in the budget is off. Notice that the subtotal is $23,312.07

SC5 - Is the same budget report with the option "include categories not defined in the budget" turned on. Notice that the subtotal is $23,670.84

In the Budget itself, I have the following 2 entries for that category:
- $2,200 Hobbies Monthly (not prorated) start Jan 1, 2019 end Dec 31, 2019 - $7,500 Hobbies:Archery Don't repeat start Sept 15, 2019

As well, I went through each of the subcategories and added them one at a time to the budget with a value of $0, monthly and a start date of Jan 1, 2019 and an end date of Dec 31, 2019. This causes them to be shown in the budget report and the amounts agreed to the detailed income and expenses report (and SC5). This means the missing/misreported amounts should be in the category with blank subcategory. I added another line to the budget with a category of "Hobby", no subcategory, an amount of $0, monthly , and a start date of Jan 1, 2019 and an end date of Dec 31, 2019. This gives the correct result but it does not make sense why this works

Hopefully this is more clear

gbaylis
