Just upgraded to 2019 version and lost my launcher icon in Ubuntu 20.04. Apt list shows that it is still there and I have other evidence that the program is in there. Tried launching from terminal and "moneydance and .moneydance " would not work. I really would like to keep working with moneydance but am out of ideas.

    Hi Tyler

I am not a Linux expert but can confirm Moneydance 2020(1915) is running under both Ubuntu 20.04 and my preference Mint 19.3.

    I installed the moneydance_linux_amd64.deb

You may know all this but.

I had first to install “GDebi Package Installer” in terminal
    sudo apt install gdebi

    1. You should now see GDebi Package Installer under “Show Application” icon in tray. Make GDebi Package Installer a favourite.
    2. Run GDebi Package Installer
    3. Use FILE dropdown OPEN to locate moneydance_linux_amd64.deb then highlight the file and click OPEN.
    4. After a delay the window will fill in with info on Moneydance.
    5. Click INSTALL PACKAGE.
    6. If you get the AUTHENTICATION REQUIRED window enter your Ubuntu password.
    7. After a delay the Moneydance should install. Under “Show Application” icon in tray, make Moneydance a favourite so it appears in the tray.

Or alternately once “GDebi Package Installer” is installed simply double click on moneydance_linux_amd64.deb to open the Package Installer.

    Hope this helps.

Somehow, after I drilled down to the file in usr/local/bin, I found the icon and clicked on it and the app came to life. I pinned the icon to the launcher, and now it works. No clear idea how. But I must say that it really looks better than the older version.

Back in business, trying to wean myself off Quicken.
