I made a QIF file of my Quicken data and loaded it to Money Dance. Unfortunately, there are numerous accounts I wish to delete. How can I get rid of the old data. I'm thinking I should have started from scratch, but I don't know how to do this.

    Hello,

In general, you should not delete old accounts. The reason for this is that it will also delete all of the data in those accounts. If you have transactions that involve transfers between old accounts and your current ones (most people have some amount of overlap at some point), those transfer transactions will also be deleted, ruining the history of your active accounts.

Instead, you can open the account register for an old account, go to Account -> Edit Account from the menu bar, and choose to mark the account as inactive, and to hide it from the Summary page. This will hide the account from almost everywhere in the program. You can always find it again in Tools -> Accounts if you need it.

If you instead want to start from scratch, simply go to File -> New from the menu bar to create a new data file. Make sure to give it a distinctive name so you don't confuse it with your current one. You can then proceed to set up your accounts manually.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,
