G'day,

I've been importing shares (stocks) but have run into a problem I do not seem to be able to get around.

The Company in question is The Westfield Group and it ticker symbol is WDC on the Australian Exchange. It imports just fine, but the stock is not being displayed on the home page in the stock prices section ( checked that the check box is ticked). I thought the best thing to do was to delete this stock and all transactions and reload. Easy for me as I have each company in a separate account, So I have deleted all transactions, deleted all stored stock prices and tried to delete the security however when I try to delete the security I get an error that says "Cannot remove Currency that is being used" Now this is not a currency and the symbol does not seem to duplicate a security, so I'm some what confused by the error.

So how can I find out what is causing this and fix it??

Thanks

Des

    Hi Des,

To have a security appear on the home page:
Go to the 'Securities Detail' view of the security in question.
    Click on the 'History' button.
In the resulting form, click the 'Edit' button.
In the next form, check-mark 'Show on Home Page'.

To delete a security from your data file:
Delete any txns associated with the security.
Delete any 'Reminders' associated with the security.
Go to the 'Securities Detail' view for the investment account that holds the security.
Click the 'Remove Security' button. In the resulting form, choose the security that you want to remove..
You should now be able to delete the security from the Tools > Securities list.

    Thanks for the suggestions

Yep followed those. Seems the problem with deleting was because I deleted the account the security was in first then tried to delete the security later. When I tried in another file changing the order it worked.

My original problem is a little more obscure but I did manage to solve it although not sure exactly what did it.

These shares in the last few years changed to being a stapled security, hence you receive a distribution rather than a straight dividend. This came through as a CGLong transaction since Quicken had recorded them that way. The most recent buy/sell however was a capital return so this was put through as a 0 number of shares transaction with just a $ amount.

So by changing the CGLong to a MiscInc, which I think is more accurate since you do incur a tax liability in the year of receipt, and then putting in a more recent share price MD appears to be happy to display the price.
