I don't know how other users feel about this sequence.
Coming from Microsoft Money and Quicken, where such a date change is simply changing the reminder date, I feel like here it's kind of over the top.

FuzzyJohntag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/485805382020-08-27T03:33:03Z2020-08-27T03:33:03ZDuplicate Reminders

You should not have to change the "First Date" field. I had a bill that I setup as recurring with the First Date on 09/12/2020 and I had the checkbox for 12 checked. When I got the new bill it was due on 09/16/2020. I left the First Date as I originally entered (09/12/2020), unchecked the box for 12 and checked the box for 16. The Calendar showed both entries for 12 and for 16. Something is amiss.

FuzzyJohntag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/485805382020-09-04T01:35:17Z2020-09-04T01:35:17ZDuplicate Reminders

Well there is one at your first date. Which didn't change. So yes you have asked for 2, one on the first date and one on the 16th.

sthtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/485805382020-09-04T01:36:39Z2020-09-04T01:36:39ZDuplicate Reminders

Set one up for 8/12. Recurring on the 12th.
Dismiss the reminder for 8/12 leaving the one for 9/12.

Then change the reminder to the 16th. It will change that one existing reminder to 16th. I have done this previously and that is how it should work.
I did that and I ended up with a reminder for 9/16. Hope that next month this will not be a problem.

FuzzyJohntag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/485805382020-09-04T12:51:52Z2020-09-04T12:51:52ZDuplicate Reminders

Yes, that seems expected to me. You asked for a reminder on the first date of 9/16, this is independent of the check boxes. Stop changing the start date. Why do you keep doing that? See post #2, You keep changing the Start date to a date in the future and then complain that it starts a reminder on that date.

AFAICT the reminder dates are working perfectly and as as defined by the configuration window.
You should not have to change the "First Date" field. If you just check the new date box and uncheck the old date box you should be set to go.

I did that and I had TWO reminders.
When I did the way I described in my last post, by removing the date I initially checked and checking the actual date from the bill AND by changing the First Date to match the actual date from the bill I only had ONE reminder.
I am new to Moneydance and this is a new data set. I entered all my reminders the way I had them in the previous software package that I used. I came across this issue when I got the first bill. I expect that once this bill is paid and the next bill comes (with a different due date) only checking the new date checkbox will work. But time will tell.

FuzzyJohntag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/485805382020-09-04T19:40:03Z2020-09-04T19:40:03ZDuplicate Reminders

Create a reminder starting on 1/1/2020. Have it repeat on the 15th of the month.

Dismiss all the reminders that are showing up EXCEPT the one for 9/15. Leave that as pending. (i.e. acknowledge all reminders up to and including 8/15)

Edit the reminder and unselect 15 and select 16 (or another date within the next two weeks.

Check the active reminders and you will see 16 as the reminder date for September.

This is the only way I think it could or should function.

sthtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/485805382020-09-05T03:58:56Z2020-09-07T08:05:29ZDuplicate Reminders

Thanks.

FuzzyJohntag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/485805382020-09-05T04:05:12Z2020-09-05T04:05:13ZDuplicate Reminders

Thank you.

FuzzyJohn
