Bug in the software - Accepting downloaded transaction
There appears to be a bug in the “Accept” transaction process: after downloading credit card or bank transactions, I edit an entry, specifying the correct Category and Tag and changing the Description and adding a Memo. I then select the updated entry in the “Confirm description” section at the bottom of the page and then click “Accept”. Unfortunately, the changes to the Description and Memo are lost (even though the updated Description was showing in the “Confirm description” section prior to clicking “Accept”). The Category and Tag are, however, correctly retained.
It’s possible to work-around this bug by changing the Description and adding the Memo after Accepting the transaction rather than before, but this inefficient as it means you have to go into every transaction twice to record it.

I opened a bug ticket specifically for the bug with the memo field. Here is the link to the ticket.

I have now increased the priority on this ticket to major. I am sorry this issue is affecting you. We hope to get it fixed soon.
Sincerely

I was having this same problem, so I downloaded build 740. It works fine: When I change the description field, it remains changed after I accept the transaction.

build 743 is now out and this fixes the reverting memo bug as well.

I'm running into build 743 and yes, this particular bug is fixed. However, another similar bug remains. If MoneyDance recognizes a downloaded transaction and I select the correct description/category and just click accept, everything looks good in the checking register. However, when I go into a report, say detailed cash flow, the description reverts back to something ugly like what was downloaded from the bank. When I say "ugly", I mean *APL-ITNS instead of "Apple iTunes".
I can correct this by going back into the check register and selecting the transaction and simply hitting the enter key (making the register sound). After that the report description looks fine.

Michael,
I'm having a tough time re-creating this bug. Would you be able to send me an example file which just contains a few of these "problem" transactions? I am reachable at Angie (at) moneydance (dot) com.
I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you,

I could see this happening if you have more than one copy of Moneydance open, (or possibly more than one window open pointing to the same account).

Angie,
I need to generate a report for my accountant of expenses and income. If I download the latest beta is it safe to use yet as I don't want to corrupt my data.
My best,
Marc

Build 743 is safe to use. In fact I would consider it to be more stable than the current stable release. With a few minor changes 743 will become the next stable release.
Sincerely
Ben Spencer
