Separate Backup folder issue
I have MD 2020.2 (1929) and have entered a separate backup folder in Preferences where that folder is on my Data disk. However, when I run my nightly backup of my Data disk using LuckyBackup, I get no entries for MoneyDance backups. Prior to upgrading to this release, I got all the backups of MD that were new for that night as well as the files to be deleted. It sems that MD is backing up my files to my home directory. I can find no other setting to change this. I think this must be a bug.

I'm a fellow user.
I've tested build 1929 with automatic backups pointing to an external disk drive. The backups are being written to this device without problem.
I note that in config.dict I have the following pointer for this location:
"backup.location" = "Q:\Downloads"

BTW if I turn off the separate location the entry in config.dict becomes:
"backup.location" = " "

I have the proper location specified in config.dict as well. However, if I look in that location and then the tiksync/out folder, my last transaction is dated 20200828. If I do the same in my home directory, my last transaction is dated 20201015. So there is some other setting that I am not aware of that is causing my backups to go to my home directory.

Backups are a single file with an extension of .moneydancearchive, you would only see the components if you do a restore.

Yes, but you can see the individual transaction files in 'yourname'.moneydance/safe/tiksync/out.

I have solved the problem. I lost my OS disk in August. After a number of attempts to restore it from backup, I determined that the drive itself was faulty. So I replaced the faulty drive and decided to do a fresh install of Ubuntu and restore my home directory from the backup. I had my system configured to have all my hard drives mounted in /media. Unfortunately, Ubuntu has a very bad habit (in my opinion) of mounting all disk drives in /media/'username'. When I installed MoneyDance and specified the backup path, I used the path /media/'username'/...However, I did not like this, so I moved the mount points back to /media, but I forgot about MD.
Sorry about the issue. It was my forgetfulness that did me in, and I accept full recriminations.
