Thank you for providing your current version of Moneydance.

I would start by updating to the latest build - currently MD 2020.2 (1929)
Provided that you originally purchased Moneydance through the Moneydance website, you can d/l the current release here.

Q. By 'immediately crashes' do you mean the program 'immediately closes' or do you mean the program 'immediately hangs'?

Q. Can you confirm that you removed the unwanted security from any account that it was added to prior to attempting to delete it ?

Immediately crashes = immediately closes with the MacOS "Problem Report" dialog (which includes a bunch of diagnostics).

Yes, I can confirm the security isn't part of any transaction anywhere.

obermantag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/487420762020-10-19T15:50:51Z2020-10-19T15:50:51ZMD crashes trying to delete a security (with no associated transactions)

Hi Oberman,

I will have to yield to the support staff to help you further with regards to the crashing.

Yes, I can confirm the security isn't part of any transaction anywhere.

Not being part of any transaction and not being added to an account are two different conditions. Make sure that you have removed the security in question from any account that it may have been added to.

You do so from the 'Securities Detail' view of the investment account(s) involved.

(not a member of MD support)

-Kevin N.tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/487420762020-10-19T16:17:44Z2020-10-19T16:17:44ZMD crashes trying to delete a security (with no associated transactions)

I should be more precise with my description of the steps.

1.) open moneydance
2.) click on investment account in left navigation
3.) securities detail view
4.) click remove security
5.) select the "bad security" from the select and click ok
6.) click "yes" on the "are you sure?" prompt

At this point moneydance immediately "quits unexpectedly". So I guess I'm crashing on "removing a security from an account" rather than "removing a security from moneydance itself".

I ran moneydance from the command line and this is stdout:
