I had Moneydance working well after install on Ubuntu 8.10 after transitioning all data from Quicken. I recently upgraded my OS to Ubuntu 9.04 and now Moneydance won't launch. I removed the folder an downloaded the installer program but it is still not working. Any suggestions? I would really like to use this software which I paid for. I have attached the install log which shows there were some errors installing.

    Hi Dan

I am not sure why the installer is giving you this error. Are you running a 64 bit system?

Either way I recommend that you use the archive download of Moneydance which avoids the java installation. Install java separately with Synaptic package manager. Search for "sun-java6-jre" in Synaptic and install it.

Here is the link for the Moneydance archive download:

This download assumes you already have Java installed. After the download is finished, double-click the moneydance_linux_x86.tar.gz file and extract its contents or run "tar xzf moneydance_linux_x86.tar.gz" from the command line, in the same directory as the downloaded file. You can then run Moneydance by double-clicking the "Moneydance" icon in the newly created folder.

I am using ubuntu 9.04 as my primary desktop and I am running Moneydance on it with "sun-java6-jre", it works beautifully. If you need any further help let me know.

after submitting this post I looked into java install. I installed java 6 separately and then installed Moneydance again and it was successful. All my old data is still there. Thank you for your response.
