Unable to download transactions from ETrade
Since roughly a week or 2 ago, I've been unable to download transactions for any of my 3 ETrade brokerage accounts. I'm running MD 2008r4, and prior to this issue I've been successfully downloading txn's from ETrade for months. The error I'm getting is:
"There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below.
A communication or parsing error occurred. This could be the
result of a network problem, a proxy error, or misconfigured
server.
Error Description: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException:
java.security.cert.CertificateException: Untrusted Server
Certificate Chain"
Please let me know what the deal is with this error as I'm not looking forward to hand-entering transactions. Thanks,
Alex

Since nobody else has jumped in, I'll try. It looks to me like E*Trade started using a new SSL certificate for their OFX server some time after Dec 20, 2009. That kind of matches when you started seeing the error. I think their new certificate is signed by a VeriSign intermediate-level CA whose certificate doesn't exist in MD2008. That would match the error you are seeing: Untrusted server certificate chain. Further, I think that the new VeriSign certificate does exist in MD2010. (No proof, just some evidence and some guessing.)
Do you have any plans to upgrade to MD2010? You might even want to download it as a trial, use a copy of your data file, and see if it can connect. Because if I'm right and MD2008 is missing the required certificate, I don't think there is any supported way to fix it.

Hi Alex,
There are a couple of things you can do to try to solve this problem. If you would like to continue using Moneydance 2008, please be sure that you are using the most recent preview version (2008r4 Build 643). You can download the update from our website at http://moneydance.com/preview. This update has resolved a few key issues our MD2008 users have been experiencing.
Alternately, you can upgrade to Moneydance 2010r2, which should fix this bug.
Please let me know if your issue persists and we will look into other solutions.

Sorry for the late follow-up, but upgrading to the newest version of MD (2010r2) fixed the problem. Thanks!!
