I downloaded the upgrade, but when I try to install it, Ubuntu Software Center says I have a later version installed and it won't install.
My current version says 2012 (825). When i installed that, I had to manually add a launchbar shortcut, and it placed it in opt/Moneydance.
I'm using the amd64.deb file from the website.
Will I have to remove this version first? Thinking about using the script instead.

    Hi Scott,

The launcher issue you had in 2012 (825) was a bug that slipped through that's been corrected in Moneydance 2012.2.

I would suggest uninstalling your current version in the Ubuntu software center and then installing the new version since it seems to think that the newer version is older. This won't do any harm to your data.

Alternatively, you could try opening a terminal, change to the directory where the 2012.2 amd64 deb file is and run the command:

    sudo dpkg -i moneydance_linux_amd64.deb

which may be a little more flexible in replacing the old version with the newer one. I would recommend against using the installer script as it'll be easier and cleaner to have Moneydance integrated into Ubuntu's package manager.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance!

Ok thanks Scott. I'll give that a try and let you know how it goes.

edit. That did the trick, thanks! Uninstalled with Software Center, then reinstalled with Software center.
Didn't add it to the Launcher, (it's OK I like that), but the shortcut was in the Dash.
