Import Dialog Box (UBUNTU LINUX)
As of today, after a new UBUNTU update was performed (I belive it had to w/ Compiz), when I click on import and then choose a file. The next dialog box (existing file, other, etc.) does not appear anymore. Anybody else w/ the same problem. Yes, I've done rebooting and re-installation!

Hi Cyrus,
Would you mind telling us what build number you upgraded to? (Look under Moneydance -> About Moneydance or Help -> About Moneydance)
Thanks.
Sincerely,
Jon Hoover, Moneydance Support

John,
I'm referring to an OS update and NOT MD. In case you wonder, my MD is 2012.3 (852). I'm a developer and a precise person. The dialog box that even appeared today before 10AM does not at least show on the screen. This started when I did an OS update (UBUNTU 12.1). Again, I can say ->Import, the dialog box that ask for the name of the QIF file appears but then after the dialog box that one designates the type of import (specific account, all, accts only) does not appear. The MD is frozen and that tells me the dialog box is there but invisible due to an update to Compiz by UBUNTU. Please show this to the linux developers.

Further to our discussion this is the UBUNTU update that resulted in MD not showing the final importt dialog box.

Have you recently had a second monitor connected to your computer.
Moneydance remembers the last position of a window. If the missing window was previously on a second monitor it might now have its position set to coordinates that are off screen.

Ben, What you are suggesting is NOT the problem. I even ran the program on my laptop in reduced size (not full screen) to see if the dialog box is there; it's not. This problem has to do with the UBUNTU update at 9:38 am. yesterday because everything was filne just before 9:38 AM. and I did a major importing of40K transactions just before this update.

Can you confirm if other modal dialogs are also exhibiting the same problem. For example the split transaction window or the encryption wind under File->Encryption...

Ben, this problem is resolved. The solution was very simple. That is when prompted with which file to import I should not have chosen one of the "Recently Used" rather drill down again in the file system and choose the the desired file explicitly. Of course, for over at least 3 months choosing from the "Recently Used" was not a problem until that day.
