I was trying to edit an account and the program froze once it showed me the account screen. I recently updated my copy of Moneydance and this is the first problem I have had with the program since updating. I use a Mac and my OS is Big Sur and all up to date. Screen shot shows the last screen I opened and then the program froze. I had to use force quit and relaunch but never got to edit the account in question. This has happened more than three times.

If you are using Moneydance 2021 build 2006 then read below. If not I think you will need to provided more information, perhaps starting with a copy of your error log errlog.txt.

When using Big Sur with Moneydance 2021, at this point in time, you should ensure:

    1. At a minimum you should be using the preview Build 2008 as it includes a fix for a MacOS issue that is in the version of Java that is included in Build 2006, the latest preview build can be obtained from:

    https://infinitekind.com/preview

The preview is currently Build 3034.

    2. While steps have been taken in Build 2009 to reduce freeze issues with Tabs in Big Sur, they do seem to be still occurring in some instances, as such in the Mac System Preferences, General section, the option "Prefer tabs [always] when opening documents" should be changed from "always" to "never" or "in full screen" to see if this resolves the issue.

In the longer term further work is expected to be done and a stable version should be released that resolves these issues permanently.

Thank you for the information. I followed the System Preferences instructions and that resolved the issue, I just hope the change from ‘always’ to ‘in full screen' doesn’t cause difficulties in other ways.
