I have tried several times to setup online banking for Moneydance. I've downloaded the free 100 transactions version to see if I like the software before buying. I have tried to setup my online banking for Citizens bank however moneydance keeps telling me that my ID / password is incorrect. However when I go directly to Citizensbank.com, my ID and password work fine. What am I missing?

    Hi Jeremy,

There are other Citizens Bank customers who have reported success connecting using the 'Citizens Bank - New England - Business' option.

I just tried to switch to Citizens Bank - New England - Business and I am still getting the same error message for wrong ID/Password. Any other suggestions on how to get my bank to sync with money dance

This is the main website that I use to log into my bank online. www.citizensbank.com. Then I choose the personal/ small business to login in with my ID/Password. Moneydance accepts my routing number and account number, but will not download any information stating that the ID/password is incorrect and to contact my bank. Has anyone run into this problem? Do I need to get the full paid version of this software to link to my bank?

    Hi Jeremy,

Do I need to get the full paid version of this software to link to my bank?

No, the trial version is fully functional.

Some financial institutions (FI), not all, require a separate set of credentials in order to log on to their OFX server. Obtaining these credentials will more than likely require activation of your account for direct-connect.

Again, some FI's, not all, charge a monthly fee for this service.

You might need to call Citizens Bank or look over their website for more details.

If you do call Citizens Bank you may want to avoid mentioning Moneydance. Most Fi's have yet to hear of Moneydance and will mistakenly declare that they do not support connections to MD. If they ask, tell them you're using Quicken. Quicken uses the same OFX protocols as Moneydance.

    Hi Jeremy,

I found this information of the Citizens website:
    http://www.citizensbank.com/online-banking/quicken.aspx

It looks like they charge $8.95 per month for direct-connect

    Hi Jeremy,

You will need to enroll for PFM Direct Connect Service with Citizens. Call 1-800-723-0777 8AM-8PM. Confirm with the rep IF you qualify for Free Services-if yoiu have a Circle Gold Checking with Interest account-you will not be charged. There are fees for the services other-$3.95 to download. I am not sure if Moneydance allows Bill Payment or not. If you choose to enroll-you MUST have a Debit or ATM card and you will need to tell the rep you want to enroll for Direct Connect using Mac. The Mac wording is in name only-that tells the Bank what OFX server you need to hit.

    Jeremy,

Advice above is excellent, especially the instructions on enabling PFM direct connect. Give this a try and if you run into any other issues please don't hesitate to ask,
