As you can guess, the transaction information on the left of the screen shot is correct. When I went back to the history page, I found a current price of 116622.2 which is wrong obviously. I had entered the current price of 77.80 which shows in the history at todays date 2/24/21. But some kind of bug keeps entering crazy prices on the current price line.

seeloewentag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/490545142021-02-26T16:31:27Z2021-02-26T16:31:27ZSecurities Price History - NOT RIGHT

Can you show a screen shot of the price history window after you click that "history" button. I think you have an issue with the "current" price value which is not the last entry in the price history.

How are you updating the price history for your securities? Specifically the one here?

If it is a cvs import you may have the columns wrong or the preference for the period vs. comma for fractional values.

The price history can be taken from the actual transactions (which appear correct) here or downloaded in various ways. If downloaded, be sure you have the right currency, or exchange.

Are all your funds and the base currency in US dollars? Check your currency history and make sure that is correct. There have been reports of the base currency being corrupted.
(Not IK Support, just a user)

sthtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/490545142021-02-26T19:00:24Z2021-02-26T19:00:24ZSecurities Price History - NOT RIGHT

1) I'm going to post a screen shot of the price history window. This specific iteration of the price history info is a new issue in that the bug has added wildly incorrect information in the current price box which multiplies the correct share amounts. Interestingly, I don't think the base data of security (shares, price, value increase and cost basis, etc), shows the bogus share price.2) I have been manually updating the price history once a month when I update my total accounts (adding reinvested dividends, new securities, etc) to match to my Broker info. I put the current price in the place above the history and click new. I just shake my head at the massive amounts of bogus price information for previous dates.3) It is not a cvs import. 4) No I have separate accounts for my funds and ETFs that are based in €'s.5) I recently added some ETF's and noticed that the securities showed a €'s as the base currency although they are $. It's possible that I forgot to change the currency basis from € to $ when I added them. Actually those securities were all correct, ie, no incorrect price info. Will check again in a minute.I did try for the first time to use the import function in the price history section but it didn't seem to work at all. If that worked, I could use 'remove all' to get all the bogus prices out, then use the import to get just the prices from my transactions. I think?I will try to post the screen shot soon. Thanks for your help.

seeloewentag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/490545142021-02-26T19:12:14Z2021-02-26T19:12:14ZSecurities Price History - NOT RIGHT

OK, Im posting two screenshots. One with the crazy price of 116622.2 resulting in a huge security value, and then I added the current price of 76.96, and clicked 'new' which resulted in a correct value (at least temporarily, Ive done this in the past and come back to find new bogus price info). Note that in the price history, it shows the 'New' price info as 5.13408939, not 76.96. I moved the price history window so you can see that the correct values in cost basis, etc, are there.

seeloewentag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/490545142021-03-11T18:26:36Z2021-03-11T18:26:36ZSecurities Price History - NOT RIGHT

Hello, anybody from IK following up? This is an ongoing problem

seeloewentag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/490545142021-03-11T20:32:44Z2021-03-11T20:32:44ZSecurities Price History - NOT RIGHT

I though I had reposted. I tried to reproduce your experience and failed. It all worked as expected for me in adding prices. HOWEVER, I do not have multiple currencies in my Account Book so I am guessing that something is off in the currency conversions. Possibly there is an old or future currency conversion from Euros to Dollars that is messing things up.

I think the Toolbox extension has some utilities for checking for currency consistency

It does not look like IK has picked up on this thread.

sthtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/490545142021-03-12T08:28:00Z2021-03-12T08:28:00ZSecurities Price History - NOT RIGHT

Hi, thanks. I will check the toolbox. Yeah, it’s a strange one. I haven’t noticed in the ETF’s that I bought. What do you think of the idea to remove all prices, then trying to reimport them from transactions? I’m going to try it before I give up on MD and move to another program.
Thanks, again.

- diagnose currencies/securities - diagnose decimal places.

Always use the latest from my site

Before you update, advise back here of any warnings.

Out of interest, why don’t you use Quote Loader to update your prices for you automatically?

And yes, you can delete all and reload. It’s harmless. This won’t affect your actual txn data.

I went through all of my accounts and updated with current prices. (Sadly, I am no longer worth $300+M). I also did a Remove All in Price History to get rid of the bogus prices and Import to update with trx history. You have to close up the Price History window and re-open to get the file right. So, at least for now, the price graph is correct and there are no more crazy prices. I did notice that the Register in the account is now empty but found what looks like all the Register transactions in a similarly named file. (??)
I don't think there is anything in the currencies that could have caused this, but frankly I'm not smart enough to figure that out. Guess I'll go to my Euro accounts and see if there's anything weird with the prices there.
Toolbox - what is this? 'Always use the latest from my site'- ??? What site?
Thx again for your thoughts. If everything doesn't go back sideways tomorrow I'll be happy camper. Great
And Quote Loader? Is this the Extension 'Download Quotes and Exchange Rates now'? I got a key from Alpha Vantage but not sure what it does.

seeloewentag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/490545142021-03-14T18:55:48Z2021-03-14T18:55:48ZSecurities Price History - NOT RIGHT

Correct... The price history (known as cnsaps) don't refresh unless you restart MD. So best to restart MD after any mass csnap update... Else you get weird things happing.

Quote Loader is in the extension list... NOT Q&ER - it's called Quote Loader(3027)....

Interestingly, the current price I manually entered yesterday (14/03/2021) is still there and is the price that shows in the info box with Cost basis, etc.
I just wrote this for 20 mins but IK logged me out and I lost what I wrote.
So, Thank You to Stuart Beesley (ToolBox) and derekkent23 for info re Quote Loader. I will followup with your suggestions. This seems to me to be a bug, but I have no idea how to get rid of it. (Im running MacOS Catalina on an older MAC, btw)
I have attached a screen shot again that shows the History box with correct current price but below are some daily prices with a price of 28.405714 and some equally incorrect High and Low prices for yesterday instead of the 33.97 which i had manually entered yesterday. Also, I tried doing a Clear All and Import again. I closed MD and rebooted my laptop but no info re my transaction prices. Ill look into your other suggestions, Thank you, again.

seeloewentag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/490545142021-03-15T18:29:40Z2021-03-15T18:29:40ZSecurities Price History - NOT RIGHT

I think you are seeing 'orphan' prices (csnaps) . These reappear when you reboot. Toolbox has a fix for this.. Take a backup first.. Currency/security tools menu, FIX: Thin/Purge price history. Press cancel. review the report. If orphans, you can then run again and select Only delete orphans, select the security to check.... Don't select save Trunk.... Restart afterwards
