Converting files to 2012 creates dupe files
I converted to 2012.3 today. I have 2 MD files. One I just save and never really use. When I converted that one, it all worked fine. But when I converted my production account I always use, it created a second file of the same name with a "2" after it and a size of zero bytes. I tried deleting it and converting again, but the 2 file came back and it also then created another file with a "3" after it. I continued to try and get rid of these files and delete them, but every time I open up the production file, they are all created again. I'm up to 5 of them now. I even tried to change the name and it creates another file with that name.
I use two computers for MD and use DropBox to sync them. So I deleted the extra files that keep getting created, which deleted them on the second computer. Then I tried converting the file on the second computer and everything works fine. I can open it, close it and open the file again and it never re-creates those bogus dupe files. But as soon as I open the file on my first computer, they all come back again. There's apparently some debris on my first computer that is causing these files to keep re-creating themselves. What do I need to delta, etc. to make this behavior stop on my first computer??
It seems that everything is working fine within MD. But these extra files keep coming back and it's frustrating!
I am including a screenshot of my MD folder with all these files. The file that works is called "Demo" and the one that doesn't is called "Pristine".

Hi,
I'm really sorry about this. This is caused by a bug that we should get fixed in the 2013 release. I do want to make sure that if you stop deleting them, then no additional ones are created with each use, right?
There is a way to fix this that is mildly technical, it involves either editing your config file (more technical) or deleting your config file (less technical but you will have to recreate some of your preferences). IF you would like to try either of these approaches let me know and I can fill you in. Otherwise, you can let the extra ones be and we'll get it fixed in a subsequent release.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Sincerely,

I don't mind having to recreate my preferences, so if you could tell me what the config file is I need to delete and where it is, I can do that. I'm guessing it will just recreate itself when I open MD the next time. In fact, I will have the config file on my second computer and I could probably just copy and move that one over. Thanks.

Hi,
It may be okay but I wouldn't move the other one over unless you have to.
The file you are looking for is config.dict, if you go to Help->Console Window, the second line where it says Settings Folder will tell you the location.
I would move it or rename it so you can undo it if you have to. Once it is absent Moneydance will create a new one. You'll need to enter your license key again.
Please let us know if you have any more questions.
Sincerely,

That fixed it. But deleting that file also blew away all the extensions. But they were easy to reinstall. Thanks.
