Since I upgraded to the newest version, I now have a small "i" and a blue button to the far right of the name field. If I click on the blue button, then I have a dialogue box at the bottom of the window that I have to accept or ignore. It offers suggestions which are not what I want, and there seems to be no way to get it to accept what I have just typed into the name field. I am confused, so just ignore these buttons. Do they serve some purpose that I can;t figure out? and can I use them more effectively?

I think that indicates a transaction that was created with a download or on-line account access, and which has not yet been confirmed by you. Lots of discussion/complaints in these forums about how that works in MD2010, but I haven't used it myself.

Indeed the blue circle on transaction indicates that these are transactions that you have downloaded from a bank and have not yet matched them with transaction in your register. Clicking on them brings up the accept/matching dialoge at the bottom of the register. If you are in agreement with one of the suggested matches select it fomr the select box and then click the accept button. If you are not in agreement just select confim and click the accept button.

I am sorry for the confusion.

    Sincerely

    Hello, Ben,

Thank you for getting back to me. I was on vacation, so didn't have a chance to respond until now. I have to admit that I do not like this "addition" to the program, which in my mind has fixed a non-existant problem. When I high-light a transaction, I get a box at the bottom of the window, as I would expect. It seems that often, there is no option I am offered that makes sense to me, and certainly not one that I would accept. And if I am lucky enough to get one that confirms what I have already entered into the program, about half the time (when I click on "accept"), the entry on the transaction reverts back to what was downloaded from the bank, which is exactly what I do not want.

Unfortunately, this version of Moneydance has me wondering whether I made the correct decision in choosing a program: something I had not thought for about a year, since actually changing from another program. The time required for entry into your program is noticeably longer than it was with the previous version.

I am sorry to be negative to this extent, but I hope you accept it as an attempt at constructive criticism. Thanks.

Hey Bob, thought I would chime in since its Sunday and the official help staff is snowed in.

I think that a lot of the behavior you are experiencing is fixed in the latest beta release - build 740. You can download that from the following link:

    http://www.moneydance.com/preview/740/

I would recommend you work with the program for a while, and I believe you will find the "accept" options will become smarter over time as you enter your preferred descriptions and categories.

This is one more reason that the MD 2010 help documentation cannot come soon enough.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi, Jim,

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I otherwise like the program, so will keep with it for a while yet.

    Cheers,
    Bob
