We have one chase.com login with two credit cards associated with it. I have set up download successfully for one card. When I try to set up the second card and download it, the setup seems fine. Both cards appear in the dropdown and I choose the second card. However, when I try a download for the second card, I get this "error":

There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below.
Bank name: Chase

(You can see why I put "error" in quotes. :) Also, boy would it be nice if you could copy that text to the clipboard instead of retyping it.)

This is on Mac OS 10.6.2, Moneydance 2010r2 (735).

    Hi wrsx,
If you haven't done so already, both accounts need to be activated at Chase.com in order for MD to d/l txns.
Log on to Chase.com, click on the Customer Center tab, activate your accounts by clicking on the "Activate Money, Quicken, etc." link in the Reference Center section.

    Hi Kevin -

That activation is per-login to chase.com, not per-card, and I have activated the login (which is why I can do a download for one of the cards).

You've hit upon a small bug in Moneydance. The error window you received is too small to show the full error message, but it's not immediately obvious that there's more to the message. Please click and drag the lower right hand corner of the message window to expand the window, and then copy and paste the full error message here.

Sorry for the inconvenience! We're working on a fix for this so that in the future it will be clear that the error message continues past "Bank Name."

Oho! It is still the case the you CANNOT copy and paste the error message, but I will type in what was revealed:

The error code reported by the server was: 2000
USER NOT AUTHORIZED TO ACCESS THE SYSTEM WITH THIS APPLICATION

Yes, it's the dreaded error 2000.

    Hi wrsx,

I believe that chase requires that you select whether you want to connect with Money or Quicken when you sign up for direct connect with them. Please make sure that the account you're trying to connect with is set up for Quicken and not Money. Since the error message seems to be complaining about the application, this might be the source of the problem.

    Hi Jessica --

No, there's just one link for activating "Quicken or Money" download.
And as I said, one of the cards is downloading just fine.

    Thanks,
    Walter

    Hi Walter,

You may need to contact Chase to confirm that both cards are indeed enabled for direct connect access. Since you're able to connect with one card, I'm not sure the problem is one our end. The card direct connect access is separate from the online account access, so it may indeed need to be activated for each card and not just for the online account. I know Chase charges for direct connect access, so I imagine you should be getting charge once for each card if they're both activated (though I'm not sure if this is true...you'd have to check with Chase).

Please let me know if you still can't connect once you've verified that both accounts are indeed activated.

I am having the same problem, but I cannot download from any of my accounts. I go throught the setup and it allows me to select accounts, but when I actually try to download from within MD, I get the error 2000 message:

"There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below.

    Bank Name: Chase

The error code reported by the server was: 2000
    [ofx.validationException] null"

    Thank you for any help,
    Chad

Hi Chad, I noticed that you posted this problem @Sunday 12:08 AM. Chase usually does their weekly updates early on Sunday mornings. Try again after 09:00 AM.

    Thanks Kevin,

I thought about the same thing @ around 2am, after I went to bed. Sure enough, they all worked this morning.

I am also having problems downloading from Chase. I have 2 cards under on log-in and another card with another log-in. The download from the 2 card log-in isn't working currently, although it did work about 2 weeks ago. The second download is still working. The accounts are all activated at Chase, and as I mentioned, they worked 2 weeks ago. Here is the error I received: There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below.

A communication or parsing error occurred. This could be the result of a network problem, a proxy error, or misconfigured server.
Error Description: java.io.IOException: HTTP Error:400 Bad Request

    Hi Michelle,

I'm not sure what's causing your downloads to fail. Would you be willing to open a new case about it, since it seems to be different from the problems others are having on this thread? In the new case, please include what version of Moneydance and Java you are using, and well as your operating system. I may need to ask you for debugging information, so it would probably be best to open a private case or just email us directly at [email blocked].

    Thanks!
