It has been observed that some financial institutions have reinterpreted the OFX specification and as such have changed the structure of the data they are providing.
We have seen this reflected in data being incorrectly categorized between deposits and withdrawals when they are stored in Moneydance.

To deal with this an option has been implemented under the menu path File → Preferences → Network to' Ignore Transaction Types in Favor of Amount Sign'.

Selecting this option will result in Moneydance interpreting OFX data in a different way to account for the change in structure that some financial institutions are providing.

I would see if selecting this option resolves your problem.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/491598682021-04-24T14:49:53Z2021-04-24T14:49:53ZSigns reversed

Thanks for your reply. I found commentary mentioning the Ignore
Transactions toggle you describe below. Unfortunately, it's not working
for me and makes no difference in the import. I should have mentioned
this in my first post. PS - I'm running 2020.2, not 2019.2. Any other
suggestions are most welcome. Thanks.

jdct2132tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/491598682021-04-24T15:27:34Z2021-04-24T15:27:39ZSigns reversed

I’m in the same situation as you with one of my Credit Cards…. The following maybe of interest, but only if your bank will let you grab a CSV file.

In MD go to File → Import, find your CSV file, click Open. On the next screen top item, make sure the account you want to import into is selected. Check the other fields are correct. On the next screen you will see Amount. Change this to Debit Amount, then finish.

The above I think will only work with CSV, but as most Banks normally offer CSV, maybe this will help you. I’ve been importing this way for years.

There is also a CSV Importer extension that other have recommended over the years, that you may like to try. Personally, I’ve felt the above method is more straight forward.

Jeff – Fellow User

jeff_ltag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/491598682021-04-24T19:53:42Z2021-04-24T19:53:43ZSigns reversed

Thanks Jeff. The csv files downloaded from yellow 1/2 two columns, debit and credit. I've tried every combination of reversing the column headers on the file and changing the field label in the import window. I was able to successfully import by multiplying the debit amounts by -1 but only on the initial upload. Subsequent uploads are still incorrect. I am befuddled. I'll try the importer you mentioned.

Can you post a sample of the CSV file? (make sure that there's no sensitive information in it before attaching it)
The CSV Importer extension can likely import it. It provides for user-defined file reader(s) that, once you've set up, can be used in subsequent downloads.

load it into MD. Go to
https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/downloads/ and download
qifloader.mxt. Install it using Manage Extensions/Add from file. Note:
this has not been verified by TIK so you will need to accept the warning
from MD.

This extension is a quick fix and is cumbersome, but it works. Have a
loook at https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/wiki/QIF%20Loader
for details on how to use it.

define your reader once and use it all the time.
Just flip between -Payment- or -Deposit- field to reverse sign

stashu.pub
