MD 2022 Build 4060 - Transaction Filter report with inverted amount signs
Greetings,
I have a saved transaction filter that quit subtotaling properly with 2021.1 (3069). I select
A single account
custom date range
Memo field
and subtotal by category.
I get the right records but the subtotaling first seems to be within each day. (see sales tax on 4/19 in attached)
Could you please take a look and see if you can duplicate this problem. Or suggest what I'm doing wrong if no trouble is found?
Thank you,
George Dobbs

just a user,
Yeah, does the same for me. I hate to see that. It was the only report where you could subtotal by category.

Sean has been working on the transaction filter report, perhaps it is still not quite right:

I agree, the report is not sorting before subtotalling the category....

To my knowledge, beta version 3064 is the last one properly working when it comes to transaction filters grouped by category.

Hi,
Unfortunately, the problem persists in 3089.
Please see attached screenshots.
Back to 3064 is still the only working option when it comes to transaction
filters.
Best regards,

Looks like preview version 2021.2 (3095) still has the same problem.

Hi,
Today I've tried latest beta (4040) and while there was some improvement some work remains to be done: subtotals by category work only on a monthly basis. So, instead of collecting all transaction, for a given category, for the entire selected period, the report groups categories on each month.
I've attached screenshots with settings and results.
Went back to the 3064 version where the report feature is fine.

Preview 4060:
* Fix category grouping and other bugs in the Transaction Filter report

Build 4060 almost nailed it (grouping by category is now fixed) but while amounts transferred into/out-of an account have the right signals (in+; out-) category amounts come with inverted signals (expenses as positive and income as negative).

@Marco
Are you using the same settings as displayed in the screenshot on post 9 of this thread?

Please can you send us your Moneydance error logs? They are saved on your computer as an errlog.txt file.
You can get to your error logs as follow:
Navigate to Help->Console Window to show the console log in a window while you are attempting to generate your Transaction Filter report
Finally you can paste the full content to your next reply.
Thank you

Hi,
I've attached a file with settings, report (sample and notes) and logs.
Hope it helps.
Please note that I mainly use 3064 build so I installed 4060 just to test
the report.
Best regards,
Marco

Hi,
I must correct my notes: transfers into/out-of accounts have inverted signals as well.
18 Posted by JonL on 04 Nov, 2021 10:08 PM
I am also experiencing this problem of inverted signals. I use a transaction filter to produce a list of transactions that I then 'Save as Comma Delimited'. The resulting file is imported into other software for analysis. Now it's clear that some transactions have the incorrect sign. I haven't drilled down into the file to find out what the problem is, but it's clear that the sign of transactions has changed through recent updates.
Really need this fixed since I rely on the analysis of these transactions to manage month to month!
