Have you tried to install the 32 bit version of MD 2017 available on the same download page. You don't mention which version you used. Again right click & install as Admin.

Moneydance 2015.8 (1372) first and then install Moneydance 2017.10 (1706) choosing to overwrite the previous version?.

You may want to check whether you're using a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 10, open the Settings app by pressing Windows+I, and then head to System > About. On the right side, look for the “System type” entry.

I've just downloaded and installed Moneydance 2017.10 (1706) on Windows 10 - 64bit and I was unable to reproduce the error you have reported.

I've installed the file after choosing to save it in a different directory and not to overwrite any other version.
I renamed the file to Moneydance 2017 in order to find it easily.

I've also referred your query to our lead developer who might be able to provide further details.

I think Stuart is on to something with the ! character in the user dir folder name. With the installer it's possible to give it some parameters that might help get around this. Can you open a command prompt and "cd" to the Downloads folder and run the installer with the "-temp " to provide it with another directory that could be used to write temporary files that is outside of your home folder?

So something like the following:

cd %HOMEPATH%\Downloads
.\Moneydance_windows_amd64.exe -console -temp c:\tmp

Thanks,
I think that what you are askin may be a bit to advance for me. Is there
another way to do it?

I tried to change the user name, but the folder name stayed the same.
Anyway I used to have it installed on my old notebook that had the same
folder name. Also the 2021 versions installed with no problems. What I mean
with this is that, why would this be a problem, when it wasn't before?

Mariano.

marianoithtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492435142021-06-18T04:14:53Z2021-06-18T04:14:53ZCannot install

I assume you are on windows?

The simple way to test this is to go to control panel and create two new users. One called test and the other test! You might have to change the account type of each to Administrator too.

Logout and log in to test and do the install. Then logout and login to test! and do the install.
