Is this what you are saying? Ie all payments and credits have reversed? I dont have an suggestions other than, restart MD, check you are really viewing the account register and not a category register, and check your (Help) console for errors.

My preference would be to restore a backup and go from there.

However, the toolbox (manage) extension(s) has an option to reverse the sign on txns within an account between dates. If you really want, you can try this. Backup first. Menu advanced mode. Transaction menu:

Reverse Transaction Amounts between dates (reverse_txn_amounts.py)

Thoroughly check results. If not happy, use file, restore from backup.

Toolbox only works on MD2021.1(3069). Are you on this version?

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492549732021-06-21T06:58:07Z2021-06-21T06:58:07ZAccount problems

If not, and you are on a lower version, please ask support to provide the script called: reverse_txn_amounts.py. They will have to provide guidance on this for you.

Hi Cheryl

in addition to Stuarts comments on fixing existing transactions you could try the following for newly download transactions

I would do a FILE (MONEYDANCE on Mac) – EXPORT BACKUP and then RESTORE FROM BACKUP to try out the following. If it works you can switch back to your original data set using FILE (MONEYDANCE on Mac) – OPEN.

Under FILE (MONEYDANCE on Mac) – PREFERENCES – NETWORK – and tick IGNORE TRANSACTION TYPES IN FAVOR AMOUNT SIGNS.
Download all your accounts and check if all the newly downloaded transactions are correct.

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492549732021-06-21T08:27:40Z2021-06-21T08:27:44ZAccount problems

Thanks for these suggestions. Thanks so much for all your help. It turned out that I didn't have the latest version, so upgraded to that, and installed the updater extension and the toolbox extension. After that, and then looking more closely at the account from the beginning onwards, I think what had happened is that somehow the credit card account had lost its initial debt value and thus all the transactions looked wrong. Everything else was a red herring - sincere apologies to all. I really appreciate all the helpful suggestions.

Cheryl Wongtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492549732021-06-26T12:52:00Z2021-06-26T12:52:00ZAccount problems

👍 That makes more sense.. Glad you sorted it!

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)
