"downloaded zero new transactions"

I can't find a topic re: "zero transactions downloaded" or "downloaded zero new transactions" anywhere on this site, even if using the search. But no matter what I do - I get this message... I can't be the ONLY one! ( am I? )

My bank (Bank of the West) IS on the list. I called them and they said that all accounts are set up for Direct Connect / OFX / Quicken - and that my PIN etc.. is the same to access my account online as it is for OFX. (Of course... they have never heard of MoneyDance - as well noted throughout the site - tried a second time and told them I was using Quicken). They are going to have someone call me on Tuesday (who might know more?)

I also cannot import anything. Same result. The .xls file converts to a .csv file upon download to my computer (?). I tried exporting the .csv file just in case they switched the links, but it also downloads as a .csv file. The .ofx and .qfx files will not import either. Same message. Because I cannot import any files and I do not get any error messages when trying to download directly - I tend to think that my problem lies somewhere in the user or the software, and less with the bank?

I am about to give up. There isn't any data on this site that I can find to help me after looking for two days... and of course, I pick a Sunday leading into a Bank Holiday to tackle this program!

I reset up the account. I checked my Firewall. Any more ideas? One thing I just thought of, my trial is not installed in my Applications folder yet, as I was just testing it. I usually don't do that, but I have in the past and it didn't affect the software - maybe it does in this case?

I am using a 2010 trial (downloaded from MD site on 1/17/10) on a mac w/OSX 10.5.8 (fully updated).
The program looks great! Wish I could get some data in it so I can see how it works!

I frequently get a message that states "Downloaded zero new transactions for " when there are no transactions to download for that account at that time.

If you are getting that message I have to believe that it is connected correctly but that there are simply no new transactions to download.

No transactions have ever been downloaded, so wouldn't they ALL be new?

I don't seem to be able to get anything downloaded - at all - in any format - or through Direct Connect.

There also does not seem to be a new Guide for 2010 - so I am apparently up a creek until I get some type of solution.

No they would not be new. It will only see transactions as new since the previous connection. On initial setup there is no previous connection so it is the start. Only transactions after the setup would be considered new.

Has there been a new transaction posted to your account since you did the initial online setup?

I imported all my Money data into Moneydance using qif format so I can't speak to ofx or csv imports.

I believe you need the Text File Importer extension in order to do a csv file (see http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/questions/477-csv-files-an...)

If you are getting the "downloaded zero new transactions" you are definitely connected to the bank correctly as they are the ones telling Moneydance that there are no new transactions.

Would you be willing to email an example of one of your download OFX files to my Moneydance email address.

If the file does indeed not contain any transaction we will know that it is a problem on the banks end. If it does contain transactions I can show you how to import the file correctly, or if it does not import correctly I can have one of the developers investigate further.

I've been having the same problem. My banks are through USAA. I check online and there are transactions that cleared days ago but are nothing is showing up in moneydance after a transaction download.

    Graham,

This sounds like a connection issue. I have passed your case along to our direct connection specialist, and she will get back to you with more information in a few days.

Some banks/institutions require the user to request the direct access service be turned on for their account/s. Chase, for instance, asks (a check box) you every time you want to download whether you would like to turn on direct access - they also charge for the service.

Some institutions just do not have direct access service. And, some have representatives that think download and import is direct access or "Quicken" support.
