(Not support, just a fellow user)

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492947332021-07-16T20:57:25Z2021-07-16T20:57:25ZBack up

As you are in the excellent position of being able to plan this I would extend what advice Stuart has given.

Firstly I would create the backup, but then I would copy the entire contents of of the folder tree from .moneydance down. Assuming your data is in the default location this copies everything relating to your use of Moneydance. On Windows and Linux this folder is in you home folder. I will leave it to a Mac user to explain its location on that system if needed.

Having both of these "backups" should ensure that you can restore anything.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492947332021-07-18T23:00:27Z2021-07-18T23:00:27ZBack up

The above advice is great. If it doesn't seem to work for you (like you can't find particular options), please let us know the exact version of Moneydance you are using and your operating system.
