Fix ur spam filters if you expect any help!

B. The files are saved, are you getting the "Welcome to MD screen?" If so you files should be listed under recent files.

Or you can go to "Help->Show Documents" folder and it will open a folder of your Account Books. You can double click on one of those which should be your data.

Or you can use Spotlight and search for all files with .moneydance in the name and find your file.

sthtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494380262021-10-17T14:27:38Z2021-10-17T14:27:38ZWhere did my data go?

From: sth tender+dc050439cf@tenderapp.com

// Please reply above this line

I do not appreciate your snarky response. If your address is not in my address book, it goes into a Suspect email folder—which I review several times a day. I then add the relevant ones to my address book and start receiving messages in my inbox.
After the update I got a welcome to MD message with no data and an empty free trial account—didn’t seem to consider the fact that I had a valid, recent version of the app. The only thing I could find was the empty file and stuff from 2014.
I had been using 2019 version before updating to 2022.
I have a 2016 Mac that I keep to use in the event I have to leave my current Mac for repair. It had the 2019 Moneydance app with all the data from the last time I used the machine.
I did the following on the old Mac:
Updated MacOS to the latest version
Updated Moneydance to 2022 – no problem with all data intact
Used Time Machine to restore data to the old Mac from the most recent backup of the new Mac from before the update to 2022 version—OK
Took option to export backup—to usb drive
Did the following on the ‘new’ Mac:
Actually paid for the new version and got a key—still no data to use
Imported the data from the usb backup. Data OK. Added the few transactions missing from the previous backup
Did a Time Machine backup
Seems to work now.

sahunt1tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494380262021-10-18T02:05:42Z2021-10-18T02:05:42ZWhere did my data go?

yeah, I don't know or care if the email comes with my email (I believe not) or the IK email but if you don't like honest discussion of your issues (including email filters) I am fine with leaving the discussion..... I won't bother you with my snark. (And that wasn't my snark, it is much stronger).

sthtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494380262021-10-18T06:34:16Z2021-10-18T06:34:16ZWhere did my data go?

The problem in the sequence was upgrading OS, then running MD, then restoring MD data afterwards.. MD uses the system location as 'given' by MacOs.. But this location changes before and after the upgrade.. So it was looking in the wrong folder for your data...(probably).... I personally disagree with where MD stores user data - i.e. it should not be in a system/hidden location, but it is what it is..... Glad you have your data now...
