Thank you for your reply, I also received yesterday
My questions on the 15th of October was as follows
Can you help please, I run Money dance which includes my holdings in stocks and shares. On one of my holdings the company has been taken over and the shares compulsorily purchased. I’ve made the appropriate entry on the share register to reallocate the funds but I seem to be unable to find how to show a nil figure on the portfolio and to remove the holding account from the portfolio list and keep a record of the account transactions in my history for future reference, can you please advise me how to do this.
I then added a subsequent question. Looking at the quotes updated recently they are not accurate and indeed it says on the screen that it has been unable to obtain prices. All of the prices quoted are out of date. I have been using the API key That was provided namely BA 106P2P 3XW 20 JLR
The message on the screen advises that The update cannot obtain prices so it is presumably not operating.
Can you advise how the automatic download can be reinstated please.
Many thanks Barry Wilson

Anyway, in reverse order…

1/ how are you getting quotes? Sounds like the ‘old’ way. The best way is to remove all price related extensions and then install the Quote Loader extension. This is the best one. I’m sure someone (Derek) will jump in with instructions…

2/ as for your shares. What MD txns did you enter to reallocate the shares? I think the right procedure would have been Sell original shares >> converts to cash >> buy new shares. If the buy/sell were the same value then your cash balance would be unchanged. You don’t say if these are held in the same investment account?

When you say remove from portfolio list and retain the history; which portfolio list? You cannot ever remove the security from the account as this would delete the history.

However, you can remove an account from the home/summary screen.

Screen shots of the issue might help up understand?

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494639712021-11-01T09:36:37Z2021-11-01T09:36:40ZRequest 2922540

Stuart, thank you very much for your reply.
I am on version 2019.3 (1880)
1 If somebody could guide me on how to remove all price related extensions and install the Qoute loader extension (Derek?) that would be most useful, I am fairly mature and not the most adept on the computer.
2 I did not reallocate the shares but simply transferred the cash to my bank account
I have now changed the entry on the securities register to a sale, How do I pick up that amount in the register and transfer it to the bank account , manually ?
With regard to the securities register the company and the holding is still showing and therefore is included in the total stocks and shares valuation.
Do I presume therefore that if I am re-entering my holdings on the new Qoute loader extension this will solve the problem of the shares still appearing in the summary of assets ?

Thank you for your patience, I’m sure we’ll get there in the end.
Many thanks Barry Wilson

This will transfer the amount to your bank.

What screen/report is this:
'With regard to the securities register the company and the holding is still showing and therefore is included in the total stocks and shares valuation. '?

Once you do a Sell Txn then the valuation for that security will become zero.
Once you Xfr the amount from the investment account to your bank then the account valuation will become zero.

No, QuoteLoader(QL) will not help with your share qty, only share prices and therefore correct valuations....

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494639712021-11-01T15:11:55Z2021-11-01T15:11:55ZRequest 2922540

Stuart
Ok thanks using the SaleXfr has sorted the transfer to the Bank but the stock still shows on Stocks & Shares home / Portfolio view and the summary of all accounts.
Don’t understand the option of doing a sell Txn, What is Txn and where do I access it ?
Thanks for your patience
Hi Barry

I presume you have been running Quote and Exchange Rate Updater. To remove this simply click EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS and next to Quote and Exchange Rate Updater click REMOVE.

Then click INSTALL next to QUOTE LOADER and RESTART MONEYDANCE.

For how to use Quote Loader see PDF attached to post 200 at

To get an overview take a look at the YouTube videos by using the links on page 1 and 2 of the PDF.

Let us know how you get on or if you need help just post.

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494639712021-11-01T17:31:56Z2021-11-01T17:31:56ZRequest 2922540

When I say txn I simple mean a transaction. So a SellXfr is a transaction.

I simply don’t understand how the stock is showing on the Home Screen with a qty/value if you’ve done a sell to remove the shares.

Can you send screen shots of what you’ve done and what you are seeing?

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)
