I cannot seem to upgrade to the 2022.2. I am using Ubuntu 20.04. When I click on the deb package the GUI screen only allows me to remove Moneydance. Do you have detailed install instructions? Thanks

    Hi David.

I am no Linux expert but I am running Moneydance on Mint, Feren OS and Ubuntu
This is the process I use:

    Downloaded moneydance_linux_amd64.deb
If not installed, install “GDebi Package Installer” in terminal

    sudo apt install gdebi

    1. In FILES app highlight moneydance_linux_amd64.deb - right click - if OPEN WITH GDebi Package Installer is not listed highlight PROPERTIES and select OPEN WITH tab – set GDebi Package Installer as default application – close window. This step is a one-time setup. Skip this step the next build of Moneydance you install.
    2. To install Moneydance simple double click on moneydance_linux_amd64.deb to start the installer.
    3. The Package installer window opens and after a delay fills in with Moneydance info. Click INSTALL or REINSTALL PACKAGE whichever is present.
    4. In the AUTHENTICATION REQUIRED window enter you Ubuntu password.
    5. After a delay the Moneydance should install. If you get the Status message in the installer Same version is already installed ignore this. Close the installer. The Moneydance icon should appear in the tray. If not check under “Show Application” icon in tray, make Moneydance a favourite.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks. The software deb package seems to install (reinstall) the
moneydance application.  The oddity is that it says that the package
version is already installed. The only options were to reinstall or
remove. I selected reinstall. When I opened moneydance it still had the
old version version 2022 (4056) . This leads me to the conclusion that
the version on Infinitekind is the old version and not the update
    version 2022.2 (4060).

    Hi David.

I had updated Linux Feren to 2022.2(4080) but not Ubuntu 20.04.

So after reading your post I downloaded a new copy of moneydance_linux_amd64.deb from

Then I followed my own process outlined in my last post to install into Ubuntu and it has upgraded to 2022.2(4060). As outlined in the process the Status message in the installer will state ‘Same version is already installed’ ignore this.

Can you download again from the link above and try again.

If you run the .deb package while Moneydance is installed your only option will be Remove. Do that. Then close the window. Run the .deb package again and now you will have the option to Install.
This is what I get in Ubuntu 20.04 without installing anything else.

It has been my experience when installing using deb kits that it never indicates it is an upgrade, so I do not believe it is checking versions or anything so it just assumes a reinstall.

I have installed the 4060 kit from the download and that is the build it shows for me.
